Greyhound Tips: 14th January

EXCITING time in the greyhound industry this weekend, with sensational racing anticipated in both New South Wales and Victoria.

Tonight, to Wentworth Park we will see the running of six heats of the Group 2 National Derby, a restricted age event for male greyhounds only, plus four heats of the Group 2 National Futurity, a restricted age event for female greyhounds only. In both series, there appears to be no obvious standout to win the series overall, plus all the heats appear to be very evenly graded so finding winners will not be easy. However, we will give it our best shot.

Down in Victoria, the final of the Group 1 Warragul Cup will be run over the 460-metre trip, and again we have a very even field to contest the final after the running of the heats last week.

Then let us not forget tomorrow night, when eight heats of the Paws Of Thunder (520m) will be run at Wentworth Park, plus two heats of the Summer Cup (720m) for the stayers will also be run.

Next Saturday night at Wentworth Park, the finals of all four group races will be contested, what a night that will be. Now let us try and steer punters into a few winners.

Warragul Race 8 No 2 Hennessy $2.60 at PlayUp
Ultra consistent performer who has won eight of his last nine starts, and eighteen lifetime wins. Very reliable beginner who should find the early lead. Likes an inside draw. Can run fast times on the lure. Yes.

Wentworth Park Race 1 No 3 Zipping Maserati $2.90 at PlayUp
Finalist in the recent Group 2 Gosford Cup where he ran well against the older dogs. Should land near the lead and prove too strong. Looks over the odds currently.

Wentworth Park Race 2 No 1 Tarawi Ted $2.30 at PlayUp
Huge motor when allowed a clear run. Can show early speed when drawn near the rails. From this draw should lead and win.

Wentworth Park Race 3 No 8 Compliance $2.00 at PlayUp
Runner up in the recent Group 1 Silver Chief at the Meadows, when he led only to be cut down in the very last stride by Zippy Tesla. That was from box 8, so we are banking on him leading again.  He looks the best of the night for us.

Wentworth Park Race 4 No 1 Slingshot Jonesy $2.05 at PlayUp
Also contested the final of the Group 1 Silver Chief, after winning his heat in fast time from this same draw. Excellent mid race pace, so if he holds the inside he can dash away down the back with a winning break.

Wentworth Park Race 5 No 6 Aston Marvel $6.00 at PlayUp
Another Victorian who put up a great performance when second in a heat of the Silver Chief recently. Missed the start here last week when making his first appearance at the track. Should have gained huge benefit from that experience. Nice each way odds.

Wentworth Park Race 6 No 1 Boston Garden $2.40 at PlayUp
Simply loves an inside draw. Can miss the start at times but from this draw he should begin at least on terms. Will not leave the rails. Yes.

Wentworth Park Race 7 No 6 Ritza Donna $1.85 at PlayUp
Already a Group 1 winner, that being the recent Dapto Megastar against all comers. This is a huge drop-in class from what she has been racing against. Awkward draw but she can overcome that.

Wentworth Park Race 8 No 7 Good Odds Cash $2.70 at PlayUp
Comes into this race fresh, and she races well like that. She is a star when on her game. She really should have little trouble finding the lead here and then racing away for an easy victory.

Wentworth Park Race 9 No 3 Idolize $2.20 at PlayUp
Recent winner of the Group 2 Sandown Laurels. Very fast early so should little trouble leading. Can get a bit wobbly late but she should have established a big enough lead to hold on.

Wentworth Park Race 10 No 3 Yuko Girl $4.40 at PlayUp
Toughest race of the night despite there being only six runners. This girl has good speed and races very well at the track. Her past experience on the track should be very helpful in what will be a tight race.
