New Year’s Day race day punters, welcome to 2022. Kick the year off right with some winning mail from our form analyst, with selections at Randwick and Flemington down below.
Flemington
Race 3, no. 15 – Unaninmous $3.70 at PlayUp
This horse is running extremely well at the moment, including a last start third where he was very unlucky not to win. Over the 1500m at Sandown he was badly held up behind runners and didn’t see much daylight to the line. A winner at Warrnambool two starts back, beating Moral Force who has since won and lines up in this race also. Drawn well for J Allen who is riding in form, look for him to bounce back into the winners stall here.
Race 5, no. 2 – Bermadez $1.70 at PlayUp
Won two from three this prep and is absolutely flying, finds a very easy field here to record his fourth win in almost as many starts. He was super strong to win the country final here at Flemington two runs back, before finishing close up behind the very talented Lighthouse over the 1400m last start. Back to the mile where he is one from one at the track and trip, drawn very well and D Oliver retains the ride.
Randwick
Race 1, no. 7 – Secret Revolution $2.90 at PlayUp
First up here with race experience a key though, after running eighth on debut last prep in the Kirkham. That’s a very strong form line with seemingly smart 2YO runners coming through that race since. He’s had the one Wyong trial leading into this, and he absolutely flew in it to win by over 3L. It was a very smart trial and it seems this horse is back and ready to win here from a good draw over the 1150m.
Race 7, no. 4 – Dragonstone $2.05 at PlayUp
Think Dragonstone will bounce back here, racing in extremely good form and coming off a 2nd to Bacchanalia last start. That horse has since won a black type race at Gosford, proving the form line is strong. The plan today is to ride quiet and unleash late, which is a proven winning tactical ride at this Kensington track at Randwick. Gets a huge claim to bring the weight down to a very competitive level, and the wider draw suits the change of tactic.
