Greyhound Tips October 2nd

What a great sight it was on Wednesday evening when greyhound racing finally made a return to the venue following many months of being closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. And what a great night of racing it produced, with the clash over the 720 metres of Miss Ezmae, Super Estrella and Stanley Road proving to be the highlight. On this occasion it was the Ray Smith trained Miss Ezmae saluting, albeit narrowly from the pace setter in Super Estrella, with the very unlucky Stanley Road flying home into third place. With the Group 1 Sydney Cup heats being held next week at Wentworth Park, we can expect to see these same three greyhounds clashing again, and no doubt that they will again provide us with an exciting race as all three dogs are such wonderful chasers. The other highlight of racing on Wednesday night was the training performance of Jodie Lord at Wentworth Park. Taking just six greyhounds to the track, she produced five winners and a third for the evening, an astonishing effort. When a kennel hits form it generally will stays around for a period, so make sure you keep a close eye on all the runners from this kennel in the coming weeks.

On Thursday night at Angle Park, six heats of the Group 1 Adelaide Cup were contested, with a number of upsets occurring making it a tough night for all punters. The most impressive winner for us was Weblec Blazer, trained by Angela Langton in Victoria. After a slow beginning from box 4, and then finding himself back in trouble around the first corner, he picked himself up and stormed home to record a fine win in the second fastest time of 30.25. His time was only marginally slower than that of Spring Lilac, who improved considerable on her previous best at the track, who recorded 30.22. The six heat winners, Came And Went, Major Major, Spring Lilac, Weblec Blazer, Do It and Jack’s Well, along with the fastest second, Keep It Black, join Aston Rupee, the winner of the SA Match Race Series held week, in the Adelaide Cup final to be held on Friday night. Tonight, we again have racing at Wentworth Park, and we think that the 720 metre race could again prove to be the highlight of the racing there tonight. The question that punters will be asking themselves will be, can the David Smith trained Ice Cream Story, run the 720 metre trip? We certainly think she can.

Wentworth Park Race 4 No 7 Ice Cream Story $1.75 at PlayUp – Outstanding sprinter who has recently stepped up to the middle distance and shown she has the strength to make a stayer. She is the winner of 8 races over the 520 metre distance here, from just 19 attempts, so she has a real liking for the track. No luck in her recent starts but has still managed to find the line well, giving the impression that the extra distance will be ideal.

Horsham Race 3 No 3 Oriental Amber $1.90 at PlayUp – Star short course sprinter who is the winner of 24 races to date, including 6 at this track and distance. Records very fast times when she finds the lead early and there appears to be no reason why she cannot jump and lead all the way in this field tonight.

Wentworth Park Race 6 No 2 Chase Me Honey $2.30 at PlayUp – Racing in impeccable form winning impressively at each of her last three starts on the provincial circuit, and all in fast times. She is a winner of three races here, prior to the lockdown, so she does race well at the venue. We think she is in career best form, and an all the way victory is possible in this field.

Wentworth Park Race 9 No 6 Outlaw Ethics $3.50 at PlayUp – Started career off in fine fashion, winning three straight, all in fast times. At one stage. Last four runs have been below par but we think the wider draw tonight suits ideally as he does like to use plenty of the track. Huge motor. He is our best of the night and your banker for all multi bets tonight.

Temora Race 8 No 8 Got A Repair $2.40 at PlayUp – Perfectly drawn in box 8 as he uses plenty of the track. Has raced well here in the past and this field is not overly strong. Should find the lead before the first corner and skip away.
