Greyhound Tips August 19th

The announcement late last week by Greyhound Racing New South Wales that the 2021 Million Dollar Chase is to be postponed until April 2022, due to the ongoing Covid-19 issues, seems more sensible by the day as positive cases continue to grow in that state. The best news at that moment is that greyhound racing is continuing in all states, what a godsend this is, not only for participants but also for the general public. We all need something to provide enjoyment in our lives during these testing times, and hopefully we are able to steer punters into a few winners each week and thus provide them with reason to smile.

With a 9 pm curfew in place in Victoria, Sandown Park is a twilight meeting, with the last race to be held at 7.40 pm, just as the other states will be commencing racing. One of the races we are looking forward tonight is the staying race at Murray Bridge in South Australia, where Fantastic Radley is aiming to make it ten straight victories at the track and distance. A winner of two from his first twelve starts in New South Wales, he was purchased by Ossie Chegia and partners to continue his career in SA under the guidance of Ossie. And in his twelves starts since he has only suffered defeat once, at the hands of one of his opponents tonight, Bedrock Fred. Drawn the red tonight, Fantastic Radley is a very short price in the market to make it ten straight, and we hope he does as the interest will continue to build as his sequence continues to grow. Here are our five selections tonight for the punters.

Albion Park Race 1 No 3 She’s Precocious $21.00 at PlayUp – Very well bred and improving with every start. She does lack early pace so will be relying on some luck at various stages of the race. But she is possessed with great strength and she will be hitting the line much harder than any other runner in the field. She is huge odds, way overs we believe, and at the odds she is a must bet on an each way basis. Remember also, whatever she does tonight, she will be even better when she hits 600 metres plus.

Sandown Park Race 12 No 2 Stay Strong $1.90 at PlayUp – Very impressive winner here two Sundays back in a slick 29.58 from the rails draw as her first start in Victoria, having done all her early racing in NSW. This race looks ideal for her, she loves the rails and is strong, so despite her lack of early speed she looks a clear standout for us.

Albion Park Race 7 No 8 Indictment $2.45 at PlayUp – Another slow beginner but the finish on this fellow is as strong as any dog going around anywhere tonight. He has potential stayer written all over him. We like him from the draw, gives him time to balance up before the first corner. He just has to stay out of any real trouble at that corner and he will prove too strong in the run home. Yes.

Dapto Race 5 No 4 Angel Glow $2.70 at PlayUp – Strong Victorian form prior to his first NSW start here recently over the 520 metre trip in top grade, where she made good ground late to finish fourth. The step up to 600 metres looks ideal and this race does not have to have great depth. Providing she negotiates the short run to the first corner in a safe manner, we think she will prove far too strong for her opposition and she is our best bet of the night and your banker in all your multi bets tonight.

Murray Bridge Race 12 No 1 Go Go Dolly $4.80 at PlayUp – In the strong kennel of veteran trainer Cameron Butcher, she recently resumed from a two month spell and has performed well in her starts since the break. She is only small and we think she will love the red box. Has the speed to burn through early and lead, and once in front she can run the time to keep her opposition at bat. Small field is also beneficial to her. Nice each way odds.
