Racing Tips August 4th

A weather impacted midweek day of racing in Victoria, as the meeting has now been moved to Moe and is set to be run on a bottomless heavy 10. That has left punters with restricted betting options, but our PlayUp form analyst has found some heavy track stars that look a good bet on the program. Racing also from Kensington, Belmont, and Eagle Farm, while the meeting at Gawler has been abandoned due to the big wet.

Moe

R1 #6 Shirshov $4.80 at PlayUpKeen to take the price about this runner in the small field, coming off a complete forgive run-on debut at Geelong last time out. He was caught on the fence for most of the trip, and as it turned out this was the seriously inferior going on the day. He didn’t have much room through the line either and seemingly had a bit to give, so he has to be afforded another chance here. Second up with race fitness and experience, the wet shouldn’t worry him and he won’t be caught in bad going in the small field today.
R6 #6 Brazen Bully $2.00 at PlayUp – Can’t believe we are getting around even money for Brazen Bully, who looks an absolute certainty on this program. His win when fresh three starts back was the catalyst for his good performances this prep, which include a 4th at Caulfield to Deep Speed, and a huge last start win at Sandown. This looks like an extremely week BM70 race, and the fact he is proven on heavy ground and is in winning form looks to have him very hard to beat.

Randwick – Kensington

R2 #11 Naples $4.80 at PlayUp – Finally get to see the return of promising Godolphin horse Naples, who was matching it with some of the best during her 2yo campaign. She was very good on debut behind Fake Love in a listed event at Caulfield, and likewise ran strongly last prep fresh at Gosford over the 1000m. She is a proven first-up performer albeit without winning, and she will get back here from the wide draw and build momentum into the straight, which is a proven winning racing style at this track and looks great value.
R6 #7 Mystic Rebel $3.60 at PlayUp Thinking that this Newnham galloper can make it two on the bounce here, coming off a very pleasing Kembla maiden win. She settled upon speed and was far too good for that field over the 1400m, which was set up by a very solid debut run at this track. She was ahead off Silly Point that day over 1150m, and that is good form. Back to Kensington now third up, sticking to the dry track suits, and out to 1550m is ideal at this stage of the prep. Drawn the plum draw of the inside barrier to get straight up on the bunny and control it from there.
