Greyhounds Tips June 17th

State of Origin greyhound series, between Queensland and New South Wales, will be contested tonight at Albion Park, with three races making up the series. First up is the running of the Origin Distance (710m), followed by the Origin Sprint (520m), and finalizing with the Origin Match Race (530m). The winning state must win at least two of the three races contested. What a great concept and what wonderful fields have been assembled.

In the Origin Distance, the main changes appear to be Zipping Niseko and Basandi for NSW, whilst for the home state, Maggie Moo Moo and Micks Recall look the standouts. In the Origin Sprint, Zipping Kyrgios and Wow for NSW, Farmour Beach and Orchestrate for Queensland, look to be the winning chances. Then in the Origin Match Race, we will see the New South Wales star sprinter Jungle Deuce (3) take on Extra Malt (1), the pride of Queensland and what a race this promises to be.

In Victoria, Sandown is in recess for a couple of weeks to allow for the upgrading of their catching pen area, so racing tonight will be at The Meadows, highlighted by the running of the Gr8 Eight Series event over the 600-metre course. This race will see the first clash of kennel mates Zipping Rambo and Christo Bale, both prepared by Mark Delbridge. Both dogs racing to super form, and selecting one over the other is extremely difficult but we will go for Zipping Rambo to lead and win.

With Angle Park still in recess for renovations, racing continues to be held at Murray Bridge each Thursday, where tonight they have the running of three heats of the Shane McQueen over the 530-metre trip, and all appear to be very open on open.

Albion Park Origin Distance Race 7 No 3 Pump It $16.00 at PlayUp Completely forget she went around last week as she ran into traffic jams everywhere she went, and how finished less than 5 lengths from the winner is amazing.  Tonight we are hoping she can land second behind Zipping Niseko, and if she does, watch out. She is well over in early markets, and please do not let the price frighten you off. We think she can win, but at the odds, backing her each way is probably the smarter move.

Albion Park Origin Sprint Race 8 No 1 Zipping Kyrgios $3.70 at PlayUp One of the hardest chasers in training, just gives his all every start. Not all the best beginner but he finds his way through a field in awesome fashion. He does have a good record from the rails draw. Very strong sprinter.

Albion Park Origin Match Race 9 No 3 Jungle Deuce $1.45 at PlayUp Simply a star greyhound, thrives on competition. We think he can lead, and we don’t believe there is a dog in Australia who can run him down over the 520 metres once he leads.
