Horse Racing Tips 7th April 2021

Wednesday bets from our resident form analysis expert here at PlayUp.

Sale R4 #2 Cliffs Of Belura $4.40 at PlayUp – Second up here, resumed last start at Cranbourne over 1000m with a very encouraging third placing. She was slow away and settled last in running, which proved unsuitable as the leader was also the winner on an on-pace bias day. Pushed along on the turn she seemed to labour, but quickly found her straps inside through the line. She ran a meeting fastest 600-400m & 400-200m splits and only just ran out of time late. Fitter now, out to 1200m and very well drawn in barrier four.

Sale R6 #4 Miletus $4.80 at PlayUp – Second up from a spell here, and resumed at big odds last start with a very encouraging fourth at Pakenham over the 1400m. Prior to his spell, he won his maiden over 2226m at Sale with a seriously impressive 7L dominated of his opponents. The fact he got so close last start over 1400m is telling me he is racing in very good form, and the step out in trip again here at a track he clearly runs well at looks a positive move. D Lane takes the ride and he should be starting favourite realistically in this race.

Sale R7 #4 Cernan $6.50 at PlayUp – Third up into the prep here, and has been running well without breaking through yet so far. His first up run at The Valley over 1600m was promising when finishing 5th, after settling last off only a moderate tempo. That is very rarely a winning position, but he finished off in the fastest last 600/400/200m splits of the race. He then returned to The Valley over 2040m and finished 6th behind a smart type in a very similar story to his fresh run. Finally comes to a much more suitable track here where he can get back and run on, and with much more fitness on his side now should be a winning chance.

Canterbury Park R6 #5 Travest $5.50 at PlayUp – Willing to give this horse another chance here, fifth up into the prep and almost certainly on last chances to show something. There is no doubt this Tavistock gelding is a smart type, but this prep has failed to reach the heights he promised. Only beaten under 2L last start over 1400m, he comes here rock hard fit, and is on trial at the 1550m distance. We think this could be exactly what he needs now, as he matures and should want extra distance to work into his races. Best form comes on wet ground, and it has been raining early this week which should soften the track right up for him.

Canterbury Park R8 #11 Mr Mosaic $5.00 at PlayUp – Looks great value coming into this race second up off a fresh win over the Kensington 1100m on a soft 7, keeping his fresh record unbeaten and also his soft record unbeaten as well. It was a dominant 1.5L victory with the 3kg apprentice on board, and he sticks here from a very good gate with another huge claim bringing him below the minimum. He is a previous second up winner, so he should carry his form through into this race and can issue a serious challenge to the odds-on favourite.
