Despite no group races being contested in any of the states tonight, we still have strong fields to face the starter at all the venues, making selecting winners a challenge, but it is a challenge we are well and truly up to. Racing will certainly be heating up in the week ahead, kicking off with the Murray Bridge Cup final on Sunday, heats of the Shepparton Cup on Monday night, heats of the Magic Maiden at Wentworth Park on Wednesday, Launching Pad heats at Sandown on Thursday, heats of the Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park on the Saturday and the Capalaba Cup on the Sunday. What a week of racing that is, and we will be making every effort to keep money flowing into the pockets of the punters by guiding you all into a few winners along the way.
The Golden Easter Egg has a new pre-race favourite in Flying Ricciardo following his, second up from an injury enforced spell, breathtaking 29.35 victory at Wentworth Park last night, some 5 lengths quicker than he ever gone previously. He certainly has returned from the break in outstanding form so connections will now be hoping he can maintain his form over the next few weeks so that he can cement himself as a genuine Group One greyhound.
Dapto Race 2 No 3 Super Road $3.10 at PlayUp – In the kennel of the very much in form Mark Gatt and this lightly raced Ritza Lenny chaser looks a real up and coming talent. Impressive winner at Wentworth Park on racetrack debut before having no luck and falling the following week in the Maiden final. Looks to be drawn well enough here as he does have nice pace, so should find the lead in the drive to the first corner to allow him to lead throughout.
Sandown Park Race 2 No 7 Shima Jake $4.20 at PlayUp – All his five wins have been in very fast times showing he has loads of talent. Does like room to move early in his races so the wide draw here looks ideal. The field here is not overly strong, and he does look well placed in this event. Looks nice value.
Dapto Race 6 No 1 It’s A Moment $2.35 at PlayUp – Only one win from his first nine racetrack starts and that was at start number one. However, his second here last week did show that he is close to a win again. Looks perfectly drawn here in box one and in a race that has no depth on paper. For us he does look the best bet of the night and your banker in any multi you chose to have.
Angle Park Race 6 No 2 Barbados Express $4.00 at PlayUp – Lightly raced greyhound who looks like he should develop into a nice stayer in the coming months. Excellent run last start at Gawler when runner up to Mister Harlewood in good time. Before that, had won in very fast time over the 530 metres at Gawler. Drawn to follow the red early in this race and we think will prove too strong in the run home.
Albion Park Race 10 No 8 Certification $2.10 at PlayUp – Very fast dog who has missed a lot of time from racing due to injuries. Returned recently from his latest break and has recorded two very nice wins, from wide boxes, albeit over the 395 metre journey. We feel he should be able to lead throughout from this wide draw to record his 19th career win.
