Horse Racing Tips 10th February 2021

Midweek racing this Wednesday, and a number of solid meetings are taking place around the country with some great betting opportunities. Take a look at our expert selections below.

Sandown R1 #3 Captain Spud $2.15 at PlayUp – Hard to beat here in the opener is Captain Spud, who comes to this 1300m journey first up, off the back of one trial behind the talented Anders. He sat back in the field and worked nicely through the line under a huge hold. Three runs last prep were very good, on debut worked home well behind Embolism, then finished behind Love Sensation and Pioneer River. Those three races are extremely strong form lines for this midweek maiden. Should sit handy from barrier five and prove too good. Small saver on #9 Moolah Moolah who ran very well at big odds on debut, and will flash home if they go too quick up front.

Sandown R2 #6 Spanish Tides $5.00 at PlayUp – The Hillside track at Sandown has lately been suiting those horses swooping from the rear of the field, so in a race with a few go-forward style horses, it looks perfectly set up for Spanish Tides. Coming off an impressive 3L domination at Sale last start over the 1400m they should repeat tactics and ride cold and let down the outside in the straight. Clearly now boasting confidence after a maiden win, looks well placed here sticking to the same distance.

Sandown R5 #4 Tuvalu $1.70 at PlayUp – Very hard to tip against this star on the rise from the Lindsey Smith stable. Comes here to this bm64 off the back of a maiden win at Warrnambool over 1300m, where he destroyed the opposition by an official 7L margin. Second place getter Tycoon Bucks has since won very impressively, which clearly franks the form. The debut win rated as highly as some of the career peak ratings from opposition horses in this race, and I’d suggest there is still room for him to improve even further here second up with race fitness and experience on his side.

Sandown R6 #6 Kansino $3.60 at PlayUp – Sticking with the last start track and distance winner Kansino for the Maher/Eustace stable. Back on the 23rd of Jan she let rip here with a race fastest last 200m, quicker by 2.5L than any other runner in this race. Expect similar tactics again here today in equal grade, and although she does rise 3.5kg she meets another beatable field and looks very well placed with the claim to make it back to back wins.

Warwick Farm R1 #5 Head Of State $1.55 at PlayUp – Very hard to beat here, albeit at a short price, is this son of American Pharoah for the C Waller stable. One career start was a solid 5th behind Sneaky Five in the Golden Gift at Rosehill. He was then spelled, and resumes here off two trials winning the latest by close to 4L in a very impressive display. Drawn perfectly here over the 1300m, J McDonald hopping aboard as well is a big push. Coolmore will be hoping that he can win here and move on to some bigger targets in the Autumn.
