What a great evening of racing we witnessed at Albion Park last night highlighted by the running of the finals of the Gold Bullion and the Gold Cup. Shima Shine was breathtaking in his Gold Bullion victory, finding the lead with ease in the run to the first corner, the result never looked in doubt from that point onwards. Local greyhound Crazy Cool, after working across to second by the first turn from her wide draw, battled on well to take the runners up prize, whilst WA star Tommy Shelby lost no admirers in finishing third after blowing the start. Both Shima Shine and Tommy Shelby head to the Meadows now for the running of the Temlee to be run tomorrow week. In the Gold Cup final our selection Sir Truculent had the race won a long way from home after finding the leading at the winning post on the first occasion.
Tonight the running of the Bathurst Gold Cup is the highlight of racing across the nation. The final field that will face the starter following the running of the heats last week is outstanding and would not look out of place as a Group 1 event. A very strong support program to the Cup will ensure a wonderful nights racing.
Richmond Race 2 No 1 Timely Fashion $2.05 at PlayUp – Well bred and in good hands, this girl has not started for 3 months since failing in a Wentworth Park maiden final after having shown nice pace in her heat. This class and distance should really suit, and an all the way victory would kick start our evening.
Geelong Race 4 No 3 Westar Manson $4.20 at PlayUp – Highly talented greyhound that does have a few tricks up his sleeve which has seen him face the stewards on a couple of occasions in the past. But back here at his home track where he has run fast time in a clearance trial, we think he looks good value each way.
Richmond Race 6 No 1 Tachycardic $3.20 at PlayUp – Been racing very consistently at Wentworth Park in recent weeks without winning but from terrible box draws. Finally draws a good box and in a very winnable race, we expect him to take full advantage of this. Only previous start from box one did result in a win.
Bathurst Race 6 No 3 Zest To Excel Bet Now at PlayUp – Another who has been racing very consistently without winning to often but this does look her race. She was excellent last week in a heat of the Bathurst Cup, running home very strongly to finish 4th in a fast run race. The extra distance will suit her no end and the field in not over strong. We really like her tonight.
Bathurst Race 8 No 1 Winlock On Top $2.40 at PlayUp – Now when we talk about consistent greyhounds, we are unsure if there is any more consistent dog racing in NSW than this boy. Having only finished out of the money 9 times from 54 starts, tonight he gets his big chance at winning a big race. Drawn perfectly he just needs to hold his ground in the drive to the first turn, as he should then prove to strong.
