Greyhound Tips 7th January 2021

The final of the Golden Sands, a 600 metre Group 2 race, at Albion Park is the highlight of racing tonight. And what a very even final it is. The winners of the four heats were all very impressive last Thursday night, with Crazy Cool marginally recording the fastest time. After drawing box one in the final, she has been installed a short priced favourite but we think the two Victorians, Run Like Jess (7) and Mepunga Isla (8) are the dogs to beat, with a slight leaning towards Run Like Jess. Race 5 on the same programme is the final of the Golden Oldies over the 520 metres for greyhounds over 4 years of age. Between the eight greyhounds they have already faced the starters on 543 occasions, quite amazing.

An interesting runner tonight at Angle Park in race 4 will be the former NSW stayer Good Juan. Transferred to Victorian trainer Darren Fisher some 4 months ago where his firm since has continued to be quite erratic. But it is known that he is still trialling very well, and with it only being a 5 dog field, we feel tonight the real Good Juan can salute. Two heats of the SA Sprint Championship will be run at Angle Park also tonight and the local star Shadow Mist should be winning in his first run back in the state after he finished down the track in the recent Hobart Thousand.

Sandown Race 2 No 6 Invictus Jaxson $3.00 at PlayUp – This son of up and coming sire Aston Dee Bee has shown enormous ability in his limited starts to date but this race and draw can see him record his first city win. Doesn’t always begin well but we can see him sitting outside the 4 dog in the run and proving too strong in the later stages. We consider the favourite a real risk from his draw. Selections: 6-4-1-3.

Dapto Race 4 No 5 Nicmac Prince $2.40 at PlayUp – Won in fine fashion for us last week at nice odds by leading all the way, and despite the tougher draw tonight and the rise in grade, we are confident that he can repeat the task. The dog has really nice ability. Selections: 5-6-3-7.

Sandown Race 7 No 6 Kuro Kismet $6.00 at PlayUp – Ran very well here last week when a nice 3rd in smart time, after being caught wide the majority of the trip. Despite an awkward draw again tonight we feel he will benefit enough from the run last week to get the money tonight. Selections: 6-1-2-8.

Angle Park Race 9 No 1 Yarindale $3.90 at PlayUp – Very nice win last start which was second up after a two month break from racing. Will be further improved by that run. Does tend to track wide in his races but we feel he can find the early lead from this inside draw which will allow him to find space. Selections: 1-2-8-6.

Albion Park Race 10 No 8 Hara’s Clyde $1.30 at PlayUp – Outstanding win here last week when he began well and never looked in danger. He will do the same tonight and make him your banker in all your multis. Bigger race wins ahead. Selections: 8-1-2-5.
