After the excitement of last week’s Million Dollar Chase and Sydney Cup finals, racing tonight across the nation appears quite mundane on paper, but there are still plenty of winners to be had. Tomorrow night all eyes will be on Victoria with the running of the Geelong Cup, Derby and Oaks finals, all on the one program. The Cup has seen a high quality field qualify, and the box draw has ensured it will be an exciting and even race. We think Shima Shine from box 2 can find a forward position early and prove to strong, whilst Mr Fix It (Derby) and Molly Blazer (Oaks) are our selections in the other feature events. Sandown Race 3 #4 McCooly’s Lad $2.00 at PlayUp – After two scintillating wins at Bendigo, came to Sandown on Sunday and recorded a very strong win in 29.72 after missing the start badly. With any sort of clean get away tonight, he can not only win but he can light up the clock. Selections 4-1-3-5.
Sandown Race 6 #4 Playlist $1.65 at PlayUp – Group 1 winning sprinter who stepped up to the middle distance last start at this track, when he was narrowly run down in very smart time. Despite the awkward draw, he should lead this field, and the time he will be running in front will make it impossible for anything to finish over him. Selections 4-2-3-8.
Dapto Race 5 #3 Zipping Truvy $2.50 at PlayUp – Defeated 2.5 lengths here last week in near track record time in her run, this time in, at the middle distance. Will have gained plenty from that run as also looked strange to the track despite having raced there before. No doubt that the fav has a huge motor, but this girl can match him, and she does look nice value. Selections 3-2-1-5.
Albion Park Race 9 #1 Aristocratic Gal $3.80 at PlayUp – drawn perfectly tonight, with the extremely wide running Rose Ali drawn in box 2, we can see her positioning much closer to the speed than she has been and this should enable her to prove too strong in the run to the line. She is very strong over this 600m course. Looks nice value. Selections 1-4-3-2.
