One Million Dollars awaits the connections tonight of the winner of the final of the Million Dollar Chase at Wentworth Park. This makes this event the richest greyhound race in the world. Who will join Mystic Riot (2018) and Good Odds Harada (2019) on the honours board after the third running of the Chase?
And what a race we have, in what looks a very open race, but we will attempt to find the winner for punters. Earlier on in the evening, the time honoured staying event the Sydney Cup final, has been robbed of some interest with the scratching of veteran Victorian Tornado Tears due to injury.
Not all eyes will be on Wentworth Park however, as much interest will also focus on racing at Geelong where we will see 5 wonderful heats of the Geelong Cup, supported by 2 heats of both the Geelong Derby & Geelong Oaks.
Wentworth Park Race 9 – Million Dollar Chase Final – 10.03pm
Box 1 – Shadow Mist $4.20 at PlayUp – South Australia’s best sprinter who bypassed the Adelaide Cup in search of the big riches and has drawn perfectly to give him every chance. Fastest on the clock to the first split in the semis, and a repeat of that will see him lead again tonight. It will take a mighty performance to run him down. Our selection.
Box 2 – Xerri $6.50 at PlayUp – Very lightly raced dog who will be having just his 14th race start tonight. Trained by the very astute Darryl Thomas. Can be a touch tardy from the boxes but does love the rails. Can see him trying to hold the back of the red through the catching pen. Great each way chance.
Box 3 – Flying Ricciardo $2.70 at PlayUp – The youngest runner in the field at just 22 months of age. Building an outstanding record, winning 14 of his 16 starts to date. Has speed to burn, but can he cross Shadow Mist? Did show great heart in his semi. Will be in the race for a long time.
Box 4 – Waging War $41.00 at PlayUp – Victorian sprinter who finds the line very hard. Does take time to balance up and the speedsters may be off and gone.
Box 5 – Wallbanger $34.00 at PlayUp – Another Victorian sprinter who excels at this venue. Owned by a large syndicate, many first time owners. Smart in a field and we know he will be finding the line hard. Looks nice each way value.
Box 6 – Awesome Catch $26.00 at PlayUp – Lacks early pace but another who finds the line hard. Outstanding effort in his semi last week. Any mistakes up front he will be right in this finish.
Box 7 – Handsome Prince $26.00 at PlayUp – Ex Tasmanian who has drawn wrong side of the track as he loves the rails. Deserves his place in this final and is trained by the 2018 winning trainer Peter Lagogiane. Will need luck.
Box 8 – Thomas Shelby $3.10 at PlayUp – The star from the West who recorded the fastest time in the semi-finals despite a bump in the early stages. He does look the complete dog now after being slightly suspect strength wise early days. Can see him being three wide through the catching pen but he will keep coming. Main danger to the red. Selections: 1-8-5-6.
Geelong Race 2 #3 Oh My Word $4.80 at PlayUp – Showed exceptional speed last couple at Sandown in much stronger class. Will appreciate the shorter distance tonight. Looks nice value. Selections: 3-7-2-4.
Geelong Race 5 #1 Arizona Eyes $4.40 at PlayUp– Very competitive in Million Dollar Chase heat and semi in recent weeks at Wentworth Park, who tonight will appreciate the rails draw on his home track. Again looks nice value. Selections: 1-2-8-7.
Wentworth Park Race 7 #7 Sunset Bourbski $2.40 at PlayUp – First up for 4 weeks here last week in her heat, so we can expect some natural improvement tonight. Well drawn and she is all class. Looks the goods in this $100,000 to the winner Group race. Selections: 7-1-3-6.
Geelong Race 12 #1 Speed Star $1.35 at PlayUp– Winner of 36 races but has not won in his last 7. That will all change tonight. Simply loves the red box which has seen him record 9 wins from 12 starts from it. Load up and take him in all your multi’s. Selections: 1-3-6-8.
