All eyes will be focused on Angle Park tonight where we see the SA Match Race event take place. This event is run in the same format as the Victorian Speed Star series, 4 x 2 dog match races with the overall winner being the fastest of the 4 races. Local champ Shadow Mist heads up the betting, being a narrow favourite in front of the star Victorian chaser Catch The Thief. Both these dogs should have little trouble winning their match races so it will be all eyes on the clock but it is very hard to go past the local champ.
Meadows R5 #1 Zambora Smokey $1.70 at PlayUp – This fellow is a star and despite beginning tardily in his heat last week, he was far to good in fast time. This is his third run in as many weeks from the Meadows boxes and it would be no surprise to see him ping the lids to allow him to set up a race winning lead. A big race awaits this boy some time in the next 6 months.
Meadows R11 #2 Brad Keeping $1.85 at PlayUp – A son of the under rated sire Brad Hill Billy, this fellow has recorded back to back wins at Ballarat since resuming from a two month spell, both in very quick time. Looks well drawn and well graded in this.
Warrnambool R2 #1 Big Boy Brooke $2.15 at PlayUp – Would be better suited drawn wide but he has the ability to get away with against this class of dogs. Powers to the line so he only has to be within striking distance to get the cash.
Angle Park R1 #1 Mepunga Isla $1.50 at PlayUp – Unlucky not to be one of the 4 Victorian representatives in the Match Race event, she is perfectly drawn here in the rails box. Her form in Victoria is first class and she should have little trouble accounting for this field. Furthermore she did trial well at the track last Thursday.
Nowra R7 #3 Go Baby Go Bet Now at PlayUp – Very good winner last start at Wentworth Park where she found the lead early to record good time. This appears no stronger and if she can begin well again there is no reason she cannot repeat the dose.
