Saturday comes around again, and we are met with another fantastic day of racing. Taking centre stage on its own this weekend is Brisbane, with the running of a number of Group level races at Eagle Farm, including Moet & Chandon Champagne Classic, and the Victory Stakes, both at Group 2 level. There is also competitive nine race cards at Flemington, Murray Bridge, Randwick and Belmont in the west. The Listed Straight Six at Flemington is the highlight on that card, and is expected to be run on wet ground after some rainy weather throughout Melbourne. PlayUp form analyst Lewis Willoughby has identified five key plays to be having, check them out below.
Flemington: R3 #1 Barbie’s Fox – $10.00 at PlayUp Thought we were getting great overs about this horse here. Coming off a dominant first up win at Caulfield on heavy going, she rounded them up from back in the field and won comfortably on the line. She now comes here second up out to the 1400m, which is ideal. She is 1 from 1 second up in the past, and the big claim for Lewis German brings her back down to a competitive weight. Each way
Selections: 1-8-4-5
Flemington R4 #12 Alfa Oro $2.15 at PlayUp or $3.00 PlayUp Play Of The Day (Max Bet $100) – This horse is coming off the back of two straight wins, and has done them in dominant fashion. Under hands and heels at best last start he put them to the sword over 1200m in a BM70. He’s fit now fourth up, so back to 1100m shouldn’t be an issue. He has tremendous upside, and is proven to handle the wet conditions. From barrier 14 he maps to find the best ground out wide in the straight and should be justifying his short quote. The $3.00 offered by PlayUp as their Play Of The Day is massive so take full advantage.
Selections: 12-4-9-11
Flemington R7 #10 Aussie Nugget – $3.60 at PlayUp Fifth up into his campaign here and should be reaching the peak. His last start effort behind Shot Of Irish was massive, coming from last and reeling off some great sectionals through the line in a race that was suited by on tempo runners. He maps well here from barrier six, and should be able to handle the wet track. McNeills sticks aboard, and staying at the 1800m is fine. Can atone now.
Selections: 10-11-1-15
Randwick: R1 #7 Overlord – $3.10 at PlayUp Tipping him here for the third consecutive time, but i’m mightily confident we can get the money today. His two career starts have been great, flashing home through the line each time very strongly. He is screaming out for extra distance and gets it here, stepping out to the 1300m. Gets a 2kg weight swing on Peltzer, who defeated him last time, and with even luck he should be able to turn the tables.
Selections: 7-2-12-6
Randwick R6 #10 Miss Einstein – $3.50 at PlayUp Third up here looking to peak, coming off the back of two very sound efforts so far this prep. Last start over 1400m behind Soldier Of Love reads well, beating a number of horses she lines up against again today. She is one from one at the 1500m, and is suited by a softer track if we are presented with one on the day. Holds weight, maps well from barrier eight and must be a leading chance here.
