It’s a mammoth day of G1 racing across the country, with top level races set to be decided in both Sydney and Melbourne, leaving us punters with a huge chance to get involved in the action. Our best horses are doing battle at Caulfield and Randwick, while cards from elsewhere around the country are very strong also. Take a look at the PlayUp form analysis below, with rips and reasonings.
Caulfield R1 #2 The Gauch $4.20 at PlayUp – Very keen on this promising runner second up into the prep, off what was definitely a pass mark fresh here over 1100m. He fought on very doggedly through the line and was coming again late on the winner, in a sign that he has returned well. Up to 1200m now suits, he beat Pintoff here last prep who has since won very well at Listed grade. Unbeaten second up, handles soft or dry tracks, and holds equal weight from the last run.
Caulfield R6 #3 Annavisto $2.05 at PlayUp – Another second up runner here, who was huge behind a subsequent group winner in Turaath. She spotted that winner a few lengths in running and was closing off very hard behind a slow tempo, finishing only a neck away. Second up now where she has a very good record, and drops in weight at the same track, trip and grade which looks very suitable. She should’ve bolted in here last prep if not for an unlucky run, and with an on pace bias expected today that will play right into her favour.
Caulfield R8 #5 Beau Rossa $5.00 at PlayUp – Take two for the group one chance for Beau Rossa, and we believe he will take it out this time. He definitely should’ve won last time out if not for being held up at a crucial stage, and finishing right alongside eventual winner Behemoth. From barrier one he gets a suck run again in the race, and just needs a touch more luck this time around to be winning. He drops weight, getting a huge weight swing on Behemoth, and arguably a better map position this time as well compared to the favourite. Will Clarken has the horse in outstanding order, and securing L Meech again is a massive plus
Randwick R4 #12 Steel Diamond $9.50 at PlayUp – Scratched from Flemington to run here, strikes a much more winnable race over the 1400m. She had no luck as favourite behind Signora Nera last time out at Kembla, and prior to that was extremely gallant alongside Bring The Ransom as they crossed the line together, just losing out in the final stride. Deep into the prep now she is rock hard fit, and the drop in weight from a very good draw is likely to reap rewards. Can’t believe the price about here, she is a single figures chance no doubt. Each way play.
Randwick R5 #3 Aramayo $8.50 at PlayUp – Keen on the price about Aramayo here, who was very good behind Zaaki which for obvious reasons is an extremely strong form reference. Second up now he is ready to peak, having already been a winner twice at the second up stage with two minor placings as well. His run last prep second up at Flemington was enormous, coming from last in a race where the leader was the winner, finding trouble all through the straight, but getting clear late and flashing home. It was a meeting fastest last 200m split, and unfortunately just struck an unwanted wet track his next start. There’ll be no wet track here, watch him flash home from rearwards again.
