Some strong midweek racing to get excited about this Wednesday punters, with good programs at Canterbury, Sandown, Murray Bridge, Doomben and Belmont. Take a look at the selections from the PlayUp form analyst below.
Sandown Hillside:
R4 #10 Jungle Jane $26.00 at PlayUp – Each way bet here on a horse coming off an extremely unlucky first-up run, where she never got clear at any stage in running and finished 9th. That was over 1400m in equal grade as today’s assignment, and she went around as a $ 4.20-second elect. It was a complete forgive run, and she looked to have something to offer across the line. She gets another chance here today at around the $30 mark, which is outrageous, and C Newitt is riding in outstanding form lately as well. No hard luck stories here from barrier 8, she can be up on speed and right in the finish.
R5 #8 Leale $5.00 at PlayUp – Keen to be with this Kent runner, coming off a strong last-start win over the mile on the Lakeside circuit. Albeit in easier grade, she settled upon speed and was very strong through the line to score, and it was run on a soft7 track which is very likely to be similar conditions to this race. She maps to go forward again in a race with not many front-running types, and if she can control proceedings from there, could be very hard to run down with the rail out 14m. Interesting to note that A Kelly has chosen this ride over Lady D’oro which she also rode to an impressive last-start win.
R8 #11 Ziavera / #12 Brazen Bully $3.70/$3.10 at PlayUp – Second up here for the Stokes/C Williams combination, keen on the chances of Ziavera. Her return last start at Cranbourne over 1000m behind Twist Of Fury was very good, running the fastest last 600m, 400m, and 200m of the entire meeting through the line. The form line is strong, with the winner going on to win again. Although drawn wide, scratchings will allow her to come in a few spots and she can find a position midfield with cover, working wide to the better going in the straight. It was a very highly rating run first up, she is a proven winner second up, and with even luck is too good for these. If Brazen Bully also accepts, have a saving bet on it.
Canterbury:
R2 #3 Head Legislator $1.90 at PlayUp – Ordinary race this, but this horse looks the clear class of the field and may be able to win it on that attribute alone. Runs last prep against quality opposition including Orbisyn read well for this, and that was on a similar wet track to what it meets today. Should sit off them midfield, and on this very wet track, it will find the better going a few lanes away from the fence. A recent Gold Coast trial leading into this was a strong, top pick.
R3 #3 Seleque $1.90 at PlayUp – The obvious selection here, second up off a very strong fresh win at Warwick Farm over 1100m on a heavy 9 surface. She settled outside the lead that day and was super in the run to the line pulling away to beat Van Giz by 1L. That horse has since won last Saturday in town very nicely, franking the form line. Second up and likely more improved now into this run strikes another wet surface to her liking, and stepping out to 1250m should only be a positive. Can settle on speed again and find better ground out wide in the straight.
