Midweek racing rolls around yet again, and the PlayUp form analyst has found five potential winners from around the grounds. Check them out below.
Sandown Hillside R1 #2 Fuzz Buzz $4.20 at PlayUp – Running so consistently this prep without winning, but i’m tipping the second career victory is not too far away. She was very good first up at Moe, inconvenienced by a slow tempo and an on pace bias. She came from near last against all odds to fly home and just miss on the line. Last start here over 1400m he was third behind two very smart ones, and had the remainder of the field covered. Third up now to 1500m suits, and a small field has hime closer to the leaders when needed.
Sandown Hillside R4 #3 He’s The Real Deal $3.10 at PlayUp – Second up here, and coming off and extremely good fresh win on the Lakeside circuit at 1300m in this grade. He was forced to sit three wide no cover on the speed, doing it the tough way, but was pushed to extend in the straight and did so winning easily. Even fitter here, and with the claim sticks to equal weight as well. Maps the same, and with the fitness over other rivals on his side he should be very hard to beat again.
Sandown Hillside R7 #17 Awkward $6.50 at PlayUp – Keen on this Godolphin runner at a bit of value here, who I thought was very good at Cranbourne on a bottomless track first up. She got way back in the field, which was a big disadvantage on the day, and was still a mile off them on the turn. But she picked up and hit the line with a race fastest last 200m split, doing very well from an impossible winning position. Second up here fitter, and won second up last prep as well. Comes back to drying ground, D Oliver staying aboard is a big tick, and her form behind Tuvalu, Divine Diose and other quality Saturday grade runners reads very well for this.
Newcastle R1 #2 Publicist $1.75 at PlayUp – This Waterhouse/Bott 3yo can go one better here today, off an encouraging 2nd on debut at Randwick. Settled up on speed, and was flying through the line at big odds but was just no match for the eventual winner in Brigantine. Second up now with the added race fitness and experience, and should roll forward from the wide draw in a race with not much speed. The race experience gives it a big help over some key rivals, and I’m keen at the price.
Newcastle R7 #13 Head Of State $4.80 at PlayUp – Could we be seeing an old fashioned Waller plunge here, with the resuming blue-blood Head Of State. Three career runs so far have been a mixture, with a very solid debut in the Golden Gift, before a spell and a first up win at Warwick Farm in very strong fashion. He was then a touch underwhelming behind Shaquero in a Group 3, but that form reads extremely well for this. Two trials have been quiet but the early money is on and that is a telling sign this horse will be running very well.
