Saturday racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Caulfield R2 #15 Daralina Belle $4.60 at PlayUp – Racing extremely well this prep, and excited to see her back in Melbourne after winning convincingly here two starts back. At this same track and trip, she settled awkwardly on the fence but found the splits and rocketed home for an outstanding win. She ran the third best last 200m of the day, and it was all from an almost impossible winning position. Far from disgraced back in Sydney last start behind a horse who has since won again, expect her Melbourne return to be a victorious one.
Caulfield R6 #14 Mrs Chrissie $4.20 at PlayUp – Very impressive debutant winner who was immediately tipped out, and returns here looking to remain undefeated. The Cranbourne win over 1000m was as impressive to the eye as it was on the clock, going 5L quicker than class average in the lead, and somehow managing to straighten up and give another kick. She still managed to run the second fastest last 200m of the day after flying along, super impressive. Recent Mornington trial was strong, finishing ahead of proven city runners.
Caulfield R9 #5 Tavidance $9.50 at PlayUp – This runner was very good fresh at Flemington over 1400m, running second to Biometric who also lines up again here. He settled a long way last, almost 3L off the other runners, and the lead speed was not fast enough that should allow him to run on. But thats what he did, flying home out wide and just missing by a pimple on the line. His last 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals were some of the best of the meeting, and all well above benchmark average. Second up here, and is a previous second up winner including at Listed level. Holds weight in easier grade here with the claim, can’t believe his price.
Randwick R3 #5 Kanazawa $4.40 at PlayUp – Third up here and ready to win, coming off two very good minor placings this prep both here at Randwick. Went very close fresh on a heavy 9, and then was left with far too much work to do last start after settling back and wide. Sticks to 1400m, and back on to preferred wet going are both positives, as is the rider change to J Collett. Back against his own age as well should limit the race, and expect him to be going very close here.
Randwick R8 #15 Chief Altony $3.10 at PlayUp – Keen on the Victorian raider here in the feature event of the afternoon, the Listed Winter Stakes. This horse is a noted wet tracker, having won two from four on heavy going, with two minor placings as well. He ran within 0.2L off a smart winner at Caulfield last stat over the mile, and form behind Visinari two runs ago at Sandown on a heavy 9 is a very good form reference. Gets in with no weight here, drawn barrier one to boot, can win.
