Racing Tips: 8th February

Wednesday selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Moe R3 #9 Humming $1.65 at PlayUp – Very keen to have a good bet on the favourite here, a 3yo filly by I Am Invincible out of Hips Don’t Lie who comes here on debut for the astute Price & Kent Jr yard. She clearly is bred to be very smart, and has showcased some of that ability at the jump outs leading in to this debut run. Four jump outs overall stretching back to August, but two this prep specifically against open class horses have been very strong. It is a fact that 3yo runners on debut across Australia who start either even money or below, have an exceptional winning strike rate and very strong profit on turnover.

Moe R5 #1 Desperado $2.40 at PlayUp – Very keen on the chances of this Maher and Eustace runner who comes into this race at Moe third up and ready to win again. The win fresh at Warrnambool over 1400m was very strong, and then was far from disgraced in a BM70 at Flemington last time out behind Hasseltoff. Led them up there at a decent clip and just peaked, but also happy to put that down to second up syndrome which is common for staying horses. Back to a mile here off a little break, and finds a very winnable BM64 at Moe off the back of genuine Flemington form.

Moe R8 #10 Perpignan $2.90 at PlayUp – This Godolphin filly makes her way to Melbourne to launch this prep, coming off eight career starts to date in Sydney which includes a win and four minor placings. Her Newcastle maiden victory rated very highly, and she has a great SP profile throughout her other minor placings where she has been far from disgraced. The majority of her runs have been on rain affected tracks, and I’m very keen to see her now on dry ground in a winnable BM64 at Moe. Two Flemington jump outs leading in, and she won the latest impressively.

Warwick Farm R5 #4 Cotton Fingers $2.80 at PlayUp – Third up and ready to win again, coming off a very strong first up run here and then a game effort in town last time out. Struck trouble in that fresh run at Warwick Farm when he got held up at a key stage when needing to make ground, but still worked home in meeting fastest sectionals through the line. Fittest here and ready to peak, back to 1200m should suit and of course the booking of James McDonald is a massive push.

Warwick Farm R6 #12 Zanzibar Gem $9.50 at PlayUp – Another third up runner here who looks ready to return to the winners stall, coming off a great return here over 1000m and then a last start close up run on a heavy 8. The form guide suggests that her best runs may have come on wet going, having won her maiden on a heavy 9 and being only placed one through four on good going. However, three of the four good track runs have come at Caulfield and Flemington in Listed races, and a strong Moonee Valley race. Very keen to see her on dry ground here against her own sex with absolutely no weight on her back.
