Racing Tips 8th December

MIDWEEK racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst. Selections at both Sandown and Warwick Farm.

Sandown Hillside:

R4 #5 Licorice Prince $11.00 at PlayUp
Good value here for the Reeve runner, who was luckless at Mornington last start getting back in the field behind a leader bias. It was an impossible winning position, but flew home inside the last 600m running 5 lengths quicker than standard, and also recorded the fastest last 200m of the meeting as well. Should get a better chance today to run on here, and will be fit and ready to peak coming into this fifth up.
R6 #9 Moose Jaw $29.00 at PlayUp
Another value selection here, with Moose Jaw looking a good 1×3 play at big odds. Her 7th at The Valley last start is much better than it reads on paper, after getting back in the field from the wide draw the tempo slowed and left her with a mountain of work to do. She began to over race behind the slow speed, and was badly held up on the final turn behind runners. She still managed to run her last 600m 6.5L quicker than standard, and with any luck would’ve gone close to winning. Ready to atone now.
R8 #12 Reliable Dude $6.50 at PlayUp
Cracking way to finish the card, and at near double figures I thought Reliable Dude looked a good each way play. His last three runs last prep were all extremely good, including a 3rd in the Silverbowl Final at Flemington. He got back in the field and sat three wide, and unfortunately was no match for a day where it was a huge advantage to be on speed, but he defied that to run on and finish third with the fastest last 600m of the race by 1L. He can run well fresh, and has jumped out well at Flemington leading in. Just needs luck from wide.
Warwick Farm:

R1 #7 Shalailed $2.70 at PlayUp
Good 2yo race to start the day, and of the favourites i’ve sided with the J O’Shea runner. He has only had the single trial at Randwick, albeit it was over the 1050m on a soft 7, so it is likely to have him forward enough for a debut. He was kept under a very big hold throughout under the hands of J McDonald, and covered the rest of the field comfortably when finishing second. He gets a very good map from barrier four to be up on speed with cover, and the booking of Bowman for the debut run is a push.
R4 #5 Niffler $1.95 at PlayUp
Hard not to be impressed in what Niffler has done in two career starts to date. She has won them both, including a comfortable victory at Wyong last start on the soft 7. However she also won her debut at Kembla on a firm track, so i’m confident she can handle whatever surface is thrown at her. Drawn well, gets the rider change to H Bowman as well. She looks primed to step to the mile now second up into the campaign and could very well be making it three wins on the bounce.
