Sandown R4 #12 Sugar Pop $31.00 at PlayUp – Keen to speck this runner at a big price, who is definitely worth a play at an each way basis. Comes out of a Wangaratta maiden win last start, which obviously doesn’t sound too exciting but it was better than suggested. She ran really good time winning there, as well as defying a prominent on-pace bias of the afternoon when coming from near last with meeting fastest sectionals. Now third up into the prep, and has found some winning form. Her racing pattern should be well suited to this Hillside track, and she will appreciate a strong tempo in front here.
Sandown R6 #12 Merry Mac Boy $4.00 at PlayUp – An undefeated Moody runner resumes here, who’s two career victories have been nothing short of very impressive. He was a dominant debut winner on the Pakenham Synthetic, running the fastest sectionals of the day under only light riding to win. He transferred that to a Metro Adelaide win in his next start, beating a handy 3yo field with ease over the 1250m. Resumes here off some strong jump outs, and has drawn well for a leading rider in Linda Meech. I can see him remaining undefeated here, a very good chance.
Sandown R9 #1 Unflinching $3.70 at PlayUp – Comes here second up off a fresh run behind the extremely smart Inundation, who by the time this race rolls around has likely bolted in earlier in the program. The run was full of merit, led a quick tempo and was just no match for the smart winner but had the others covered nicely. Comes here with a great second up record, which includes a 1.5L at The Valley, and a 5th in the G3 Manfred when he SP’d as a $3.40 second favourite. Gets a very handy claim off the top weight for Matt Cartwright, and can push forward from wide to take up the running in a much more winnable race.
