Midweek racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst, with the Sydney meeting transferred to Thursday at Canterbury due to weather.
Sandown R1 #8 Hypothetical $2.60 at PlayUp – coming off a very nice debut 2nd at Mornington, finishing just over a length off the winner. She jumped and led at an insane tempo, running 11L quicker than maiden class average to the 600m, and still managed to give a big kick at the top of the straight. In honesty, she could’ve run next to last and you’d be able to find a legitimate excuse. Second up here with the huge benefit of race experience and fitness, if she can settle better on speed today she will go one better.
Sandown R4 #3 Danaustar $5.00 at PlayUp – A last start winner at Swan Hill after sitting outside the lead and having to fight very hard to score in a tough performance. The writing was on the wall with a very good run at Geelong prior, and I like that they stick to the wet ground here which should give her a significant edge on the rivals. Drawn perfectly in barrier one to be right up on the speed again, Linda retains the ride and he has a good chance of going back to back.
Sandown R8 #6 Grand Pope $4.20 at PlayUp – Both runs in town this prep have been very strong, with an unlucky 3rd place first up down the straight where all his closing sectionals were over 2L better than class average. Nailed late by a good one last start who has since run second in town again, and is now third up and finds a much easier midweek race. The wide draw at this circuit on a wet track is no disadvantage, and based off the form this prep you’d expect to be going very close here.
Sunshine Coast R3 #5 Ronlee Gal $2.50 at PlayUp – strong last start maiden winner over 1400m, seemed to put it all together in a dominant display winning by over 1L. The step now third up to 1600m off a last start win looks an ideal set up, and the 1.5kg claim for a very in form apprentice reads nicely as well. Untried on the synthetic track is a slight concern, but most horses in this jurisdiction are also untried on it and it puts them at a level playing field. Drawn for a nice map, can look to win again now in class one grade.
