Midweek racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown Lakeside R2 #6 Rockribbed $1.75 at PlayUp – This horse was a very dominant winner at Ballarat first up this prep, putting away the field by over 3L on the line in a dashing display. He started a clear odds-on favourite at The Valley last time out and did look plain on face value, but wasn’t disgraced and you have to respect the SP profile as well. Third up, back to midweek grade, and finds a very winnable race where he is perfectly drawn in barrier two.
Sandown Lakeside R4 #3 Worsfold $2.25 at PlayUp – Very keen on this Smart trained runner, who is coming into this 1400m event first up and extremely well drawn in barrier three. The horse is currently two from two undefeated when racing fresh, and I expect that record to continue. A public trial leading in was quiet, and a few jump outs as well should have him forward enough to be competitive in this midweek benchmark grade. The three kilo claim for L McNeil is a cherry on top as well, smart horse and should be hard to beat.
Sandown Lakeside R9 #9 Cheloon $13.00 at PlayUp – Was very impressed with the first up win of this horse in maiden grade last start at Warrnambool, winning softly on the line by 2L. She sat up on speed alongside a pretty strong tempo, and managed to quicken from the 400m to the 200m in the quickest time of the entire day. Eased down late, her last 400m and 200m sections also strong, she looks a smart horse and now with a confidence boosting victory can easily make it back to back wins. The booking of John Allen is strong, and the barrier looks suitable as well.
Canterbury R3 #2 Daralina Belle $3.00 at PlayUp – Promising horse resuming here, a mare who managed to win her first three career starts on the bounce, before rounding out the prep with a solid run in the Four Pillars race at Rosehill. She also has a very close second place on a heavy 9 track at Warwick Farm, and that tells me she should be able to handle the similar conditions here today. Well drawn a touch wider on the track, and the booking of James McDonald who has ridden her before is a big positive.
Canterbury R5 #8 Capital Reign $5.00 at PlayUp – Thought this horse ran very credibly last start in a small but tough field at Moonee Valley. He was only 2.5L off Yulong Command who is well known at being a track and trip specialist around that tight 955m circuit. He returns to NSW here fourth up, and has been trialled between runs on a heavy track at Warwick Farm. He won the trial by 3L on the line, and looked to absolutely cruise in the heavy going. Peaking here, has never missed a place over the 1100m trip and looks extremely well placed from barrier one with only 54kg on his back.
