Midweek racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Geelong R3 #10 Miss Subtly $2.50 at PlayUp – Ran a very good second place on debut at Sale over 1100m, finishing a pimple off the winner. She set a pretty strong tempo in the lead from the low barrier, going 5L quicker than maiden average to the 600m mark. Still managed to run 12th best last 200m of the day even after setting that cracking tempo. Second up here, fitter and improved for the race experience. Sticking to the distance suits, and can be positive from the draw again.
Geelong R5 #1 Aspen Colorado $2.60 at PlayUp – Really competitive BM64 here, but I think this Lindsey Smith galloper has that something special, after destroying his rivals at Donald last start. He came from well off the speed to score by over 4L, something that is extremely tricky to do at that tight turning circuit. He’s third up now and ready to peak, handles wet going as seen by his first up run at this track, and could have a class edge on his rivals today.
Geelong R7 #2 La Caresse $6.00 at PlayUp – Good value here for a horse who ran extremely well at Cranbourne last start when fresh. He struck a heavy 9 over the 1200m that day, and got back in running three wide without any cover. It was a pretty torrid run in transit for a horse who was first up lacking race fitness, but ran the fastest last 200m of the entire day to run third in the end. Second up here, back on an improving surface, and should be well suited in the run from the draw. Big rider booking signals intent they are here to win.
Canterbury R1 #1 Spirit Of Vomo $3.40 at PlayUp – Third up into his career here, and comes off a solid 1200m second place at Warwick Farm last start, He sat handy and was beaten under half a length by a promising Hellbent colt. That was on heavy 10 conditions, and although he obviously ran very well I think he can be further improved coming back to dryer conditions here. He will go forward from the gate, as is typical for this stable, and that should be a big positive here at the track and distance that is notoriously on speed.
Canterbury R5 #3 Sacred Command $4.20 at PlayUp – Willing to give this horse another chance off a forgettable Rosehill run last time out. Not much went right as he finished close to 6L off the winner, but his form prior to that run was very strong. He was a solid Sandown winner on soft going two starts back, and had finished in the placings in each run prior since returning from a spell. He looks rock hard fit and ready to peak, finds a much easier race than last start, and gets a huge rider change as well with Nash Rawiller hopping aboard.
