Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst at Randwick and The Valley.
Randwick R2 #5 Super Extreme $4.80 at PlayUp – Comes here off a last start Highway win in a very similar affair, where he sat midfield and put them to the sword in a dominant display. I can’t see any reason t be jumping off here today, where he finds a very similar set up with an almost identical map to last time. Form two runs ago behind Tap ’N’ Run is very strong for this grade, and with an equal weight here he should be winning again.
Randwick R4 #1 Rupertaar $5.50 at PlayUp – Looks the value in this race I think, coming off a forgettable last start run over 1000m. She went way too fast in front there, and pulled up with a slow recovery which was probably to be expected after the tempo she was setting. Go back two starts she finished alongside Dehorned Unicorn, who has since run 2nd to the very talented I Am Me. The formalises around her are strong, and third up back to 1100m looks ideal placement. Should find a spot in behind the speed from the barrier, and take beating late.
Randwick R10 #8 Show Some Decorum $5.50 at PlayUp – On the 7 day back up here, which so often is a winning formula for good horses. He was unlucky not to finish much closer to the winner here last Saturday over 1200m, when badly held up in between runners. Once he got clear, he ran one of the quicker last 200m sectionals of the entire day. The first up win at Pakenham was massive, and he is in career best form. 1300m now suits, and the wide draw allows him to get back and unleash late.
Moonee Valley R4 #3 Matron Bullwinkel $2.40 at PlayUp – This horse was also accepted in at Randwick, but they have made the decision to run her here and I think she will be winning. She won at Flemington during the carnival over 1700m impressively, digging deep late to score. Last start she raced on speed at Pakenham over 2000m chasing a very fast tempo, and was just nailed late by a swooper who had a much more comfortable run. Peak fit now, sticking to the distance will suit, and gets a handy claim for M Cartwright as well. She should be pushing forward from the wide draw to be up on speed, and take some beating in this BM70 grade.
Moonee Valley R6 #6 Riot And Rose $2.30 at PlayUp – Third up here and looks ready to bounce back into the winners stall, coming off two encouraging efforts this prep. The last start 5th at Sandown behind Savannah Cloud was strong, and that runner has since won again on Boxing Day which franks the form. She got back in running there in an on-pace dominated event, and flew home with the fastest 400-200m split of the day. Peak fit here, and out to 1600m will suit as it is a distance she has previously won at.
