Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Geelong R2 #7 Mighty Sapphire $3.10 at PlayUp – This Moroney trained galloper resumes here, off the back of a decent spell which has finished with some very strong jump outs leading into the first up run. He was beaten under a length on debut at Sale last prep, in a very strong form race which contains a handful of subsequent winners including a few in town. He ran the seventh fastest last 200m split of the entire meeting on that occasion, and looks a horse with very good ability. Will be benefited by the race experience, and this stable is in very good form at the moment.
Geelong R7 #17 Dyerville $20.00 at PlayUp – Going to speck one at a big price here, who I think is racing very well this prep and had excuses last start. Not sure he was in love with the synthetic surface at Ballarat when finishing only about 3.5L off the winner. Prior to that, he was a dominant Casterton maiden winner by 5L on the line and it easily could’ve been double that margin. Fourth up here and looking to peak, he gets a strong senior rider back on board, and looks to map really nicely midfield from the draw.
Gosford R4 #3 Mr Wallace $2.60 at PlayUp – Think this Godolphin runner has come up with the ideal draw here, and looks destined to break through in start number three this prep. He has sat on speed of late and not beaten far on both occasions, including at Hawkesbury last start in a handy maiden race. Drops 1.5kg for this race and gets a senior rider back aboard, and should land straight in front from the inside barrier. Tim Clark is a noted front-running jockey, with an impeccable sense of timing and should be able to boot this one home.
