Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Moonee Valley R6 #2 American Angel $3.40 at PlayUp – Running well this prep with not much luck, I think this sets up perfectly for this mare to break through again. She was beaten a pimple at Flemington first up over 1400m, ridden questionably back in the field behind a very slow lead tempo. She flew home with exceptional closing splits, and then was far from disgraced in much harder grade at that same track and distance last start. Gets a big drop in grade, well weighted at 59kg, and D Lane booking is a cherry on top.
Moonee Valley R8 #12 Tavidance $3.80 at PlayUp – Similar set up to the tip above, this horse comes here in good form third up to the prep and ready to peak. He ran very well fresh at Flemington on a soft 7, coming from last to be beaten only half a length. Last start at Caulfield he was absolutely luckless, getting caught on the fence behind midfield off a very slow tempo which made it a near impossible winning position. Third up here, out to a mile suits, and is a two time winner at this distance. The booking of J Kah is a huge positive, expect a forward showing.
Rosehill R6 #1 Kanazawa $4.80 at PlayUp – Very impressed with the last start victory of this Godolphin runner, who came from last in inferior going to bolt in by 2L eased down. He had the sixth fastest last 200m of the entire 10-race program, and ran his last 400m 6L quicker than benchmark average. I think he easily holds form here, and dropping back to 1300m should be no issue. Drawn well out wide on the heavy track, and gets a crucial claim for the in-form Reece Jones.
Rosehill R8 #11 Toomuchtobear $7.50 at PlayUp – Was very good first up running fourth behind Bold Mac and Blesk here over 1300m, beaten just under 2L. He settled last behind a slow tempo, and finished off through the line with the fastest last 400 and 200 metres of the day. Second up, with a very solid record at this stage of his prep, should find some drying ground to his liking and gets in with only 53kg on his back.
Rosehill R9 #7 Easy Single $3.40 at PlayUp – Think this very smart Maher/Eustace runner is ready to win again, having already one win and two minor placings to his name this prep. His last start third to Conscript was very solid, sitting in behind the lead on a laughably slow tempo, and getting boxed in when the whips were cracking with absolutely nowhere to go. He should’ve won clearly, and even with limited room his closing sectionals were still very strong. Fourth up, finds a drying track to suit, and gets a senior rider back on with 54kg.
