BLACK type racing from Gosford headlines an action-packed midweek card of racing. Take a look at the PlayUp form analyst selections below.
Mornington:
R1 #10 Keppel Bay
Very good on debut at Geelong running second to a smart one, after being forced to sit up handy to a very hot tempo. The speed was 2.5L inside average to the 600m mark, and she still ran home half a length quicker than standard with a huge gap to third. Second up now fitter and improved for race experience, can be handy again and prove too strong.

R2 #8 Barnsbury
Was strong first up at Cranbourne finishing 2nd over the 1000m, and it was a promising return to racing after going close in her first prep. She was very good at Wangaratta on debut after getting taken off course by a riderless horse, and with a few other excuses through her career she looks primed for a better effort here. Up to 1200m should suit, and she is well weighted against the 4yo and up maiden-ers here.
R8 #6 Yulong Sovereign
Keen to see this runner return to the races, a very lightly 4yo horse who has been spelled after each three career runs to date. He disappointed on debut at Tatura, but was very strong winning at Stawell and then was spelled again. Pulled up with issues at Bendigo and returns again here for another crack. Dry surface is key, and the win at Stawell outlined he is a horse who can run very quick splits in front, quicken again and break their hearts in behind. Would expect to see those types of tactics here today.
Gosford:
R1 #12 Vintage
Thought the price about Vintage was very enticing, returning here from a spell with only a debut run to her name. She didn’t appreciate the heavy surface here at Gosford on debut, and was immediately spelled. Her two trials leading into this on firmer ground have been very encouraging, and with the track expecting to play to a leaders bias she should go straight to the front and could be very hard to catch.
R6 #3 Bacchanalia
Looks very hard to beat here in the Godolphin runner, racing in extremely good form with two wins on the bounce leading into this. He was very good behind Profiteer to start the campaign at Flemington, and has since won dominantly at Canterbury and then was smashed in betting at Randwick last start and won by almost 3L. Loves the cut out of the ground, and is deserving of another chance in black type grade after running 2L off Kalashnikov in the G3 Black Opal earlier this year.
