Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Bendigo R1#2 Songman $2.90 at PlayUp – Was very gallant on debut at Mornington, coming from well off the speed to finish a promising fourth only beaten 3L. There was a serious on-pace bias that day too, which meant he was never a winning hope from his settling position. Second up here and should be well improved for the raceday experience, and gets a bit of extra distance to his liking. Drawn wide, but that is no worries with his racing pattern, and he should find a fairer track here today.
Bendigo R5 #8 Outstanding Reward $13.00 at PlayUp – Thought this P Chow runner was unfairly priced here, coming off a very strong last start win at lower odds than he is currently. The dominant Horsham win where she came from off the speed and overcame some difficulty in running was impressive. That was off the back of a 3rd at Warracknabeal the start prior where she probably should’ve won, and ran some meeting best sectionals as well. Peak fit here, gets a big rider booking for these country areas, and with luck again should be in the finish.
Bendigo R6 #11 La Zucca $7.00 at PlayUp – Keen to play this mare with the superior heavy track stats to any other runner in the field. She is ticking along nicely this prep, including stringing together back to back wins at Geelong and Mornington first and second up. Both of those were on heavy going and she won comfortably each time, telling me she is a superior horse with the sting out of the ground. The track is in the heavy 10 range at time of writing these tips, and I don’t expect it to change much. Wide draw suits, and drops 3kg from last start as well.
Kensington R2 #1 Picarones $2.40 at PlayUp – Thought this Godolphin galloper could just be too classy for them here at midweek level, coming off a last start run at Warwick Farm where she SP’d as favourite. Prior to that she was a very good Sandown winner over a horse who was run very well in Saturday grade since. Drawn well here for Hugh Bowman, and is a previous winner on wet going so should be handling conditions with no problem.
Kensington R5 #7 Vucetich $7.00 at PlayUp – Ex-Godolphin runner here who returns after having almost a year off the scene, but if he is able to recapture his form of last prep he is a genuine hope. Last seen running 3rd at Sandown in a handy race that contains multiple city and midweek winners, and was running very well prior to that in Sydney. Handles heavy going no worries, having won one from two on the surface, and his quiet trials over the longer distances should have him forward enough to be competitive.
