Last G1 of the racing season comes up at Eagle Farm, and there is some great racing from Caulfield as well. Take a look at the PlayUp selections below.
Caulfield R2 #3 Ghaanati $1.70 at PlayUp – Was super impressive winning on debut down the Flemington straight last time out, putting away her opposition by close to 4L on the line. It was a debut performance that not only was good visually, but backed up on the clock as well. Ran the 4th best last 200m of the entire program after sitting up on speed. Second up here, and with any natural improvement second up here, and added fitness, she will be exceptionally hard to beat.
Caulfield R6 #4 Squid Game $3.90 at PlayUp – Going against the favourite here, who by my own admission could be an extremely smart horse. However, I see a few things in Squid Games’ favour here today that should have it going very close. He comes here third up off a very good 3rd behind Passive Aggressive down the Flemington straight last start. That winner has since gone on to win a Listed event in very dominant fashion and looks a G1 horse in the making. Squid Game carries no weight here after the claim from a low draw, and is a proven 1200m winner.
Caulfield R9 #7 Polanco $13.00 at PlayUp – Third up here for the S Eden yard, and is coming off a promising second place last start at Sandown. He ran within half a length of the winner there over 1300m on a heavy 9 surface, and that was off a 5 week break between runs.He had to race three wide without cover, and still ran his last 400m time 2L quicker than class average. Strips fitter here and I think is ready to peak, drawn barrier one and only 55kg after the claim for in-form apprentice Tom Stockdale.
Eagle Farm R6 #8 Burning Bell $3.90 at PlayUp – Have been very impressed with the three wins on the bounce from this Tony and Trent Edmonds filly, having proven herself on the turf and the synthetic up north lately. She is putting good margins on her rivals, and her overall times and closing sectionals are backed up on the clock as well. She looks very well drawn here from barrier three, and main stable rider Ryan Maloney taking over here in the city looks a big positive. In a competitive event, she is the standout pick for mine.
Eagle Farm R8 (G1 Tatts Tiara) # 10 Atishu $13.00 at PlayUp – Think she looks the value here in the final G1 race of the season, having been minor placed in all three runs so far this prep. I think she is ready to peak here, and had not much luck behind Kiku in the National Classic here over a mile last start. Back to 1400m will suit, and with her behind midfield racing style the barrier draw should suit. It will enable her to get cover, and be produced with a run at the right time.
