Sandown Lakeside:
R2 #7 Guardian Spirit $1.90 at PlayUp
Comes off a very good fresh win at Geelong when resuming and is primed to go back-to-back with victories. Got caught three wide without cover in running that day but managed to come home 5L quicker than standard time and ran the 2nd fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the entire day. It was a very smart win off a tough run, and he will only be improved from that with a softer draw here today.

R5 #12 Wolf Skill $3.50 at PlayUp
Impressed with the debut win of this filly, who beat a handy maiden field at Geelong by a solid margin. She was last to leave the gates and settled in that position off a very slow tempo in front, where they went 4L outside standard to the 400m mark. She got clear running late and flew home to win, recording the 5th fastest last 200m of the meeting. She was never fully ridden out either, wanting to lay in under pressure. Gets the booking of C Williams here which is a massive positive, and can go back to back.

R8 #11 Unique Bambino $34.00 at PlayUp
Ran a very good 2nd at Bairnsdale last time out, which doesn’t sound exciting but it was a very good run. Got back behind a leader bias race which made it almost impossible to win, but ran the meeting fastest last 400m and 200m through the line and the overall time also rated very highly. That was almost 5 weeks between runs, so much fitter off that now and should be flying home off a strong tempo here.

Gosford:
R2 #10 Marooniyah $3.20 at PlayUp
This looks an ordinary event, so with race fitness and breeding to suggest that she can handle heavy, the Sebring filly goes on top. She finished last at Canterbury last start on a heavy 8, but was only beaten 3L and after getting back in running on a night where it was impossible to run on, it was a clear forgive. She had trialled very well leading into that run, and has form last prep behind King Of Sparta which reads well. 55kg on her back, drawn softly for a leading rider.

R6 #9 Almighty Rising $2.10 at PlayUp
Tough way to finish the card but the favourite should be able to blast us out in the last, first up here for the lightly raced conveyance. He has won one from three, including contesting a Blue Diamond prelude on debut at Caulfield, before beating the very talented Dragonstone at Canterbury who has since won multiple times. The one trial leading into this race on a heavy at Rosehill was strong, and should have brought him on enough to be competitive here. Think he can go to Saturday class after this as well.
