Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst
Caulfield R1 #6 River Ribble $2.45 at PlayUp – Looks to come back in super order this prep, and is a horse that the stable have always had a very keen opinion on. Won first up at Cranbourne in exceptional style, trouncing his rivals by 3L on the line and running very good sectionals in the process. Second up here, fitter, and drawn well from a touch wider in the field. Only 55kg on his back against an even crop of 2yo horses here, keen it wins.
Caulfield R2 #3 Berkeley Square $6.50 at PlayUp – Pretty surprised at the price on offer for this debut winner, who was sent for a spell after dominating a Geelong maiden earlier in the year. That race has produced a number of subsequent winners, and he will find a similar distance and similar track conditions here at Caulfield as to what he faced that day. Recent jump outs were strong, drawn nicely in barrier one and gets an in form rider on board.
Caulfield R7 #6 Sigh $ at PlayUp $8.00 at PlayUp – Comes through the similar form line to most horses in this race, finishing an extremely unlucky ninth placing behind eventual winner Ojosan. If you see the replay, this filly travelled in a lovely spot in transit but when push came to shove, she saw nothing but backsides the entire straight. An absolute tragedy beaten, with even luck here today on attempt two she goes extremely close to winning. Down to 54kg, and Linda Meech aboard from a sweet barrier.
Randwick R4 #3 Enchanted Heart $4.00 at PlayUp – Really competitive race this one, and though Enchanted Heart attracted value here for the Lees and Collett combination. Was last seen running down the track in a G1 Tatt’s Tiara, and prior to that finished only 3L off the winner in a G2 Dane Ripper stakes. For obvious reasons, that is extremely strong form to now be contesting an off season sprint race at Randwick. The freshen will suit the drop back to 1100m, and his wet form is superb having won three times from five attempts in heavy going.
Randwick R10 #9 Sunrise Ruby $4.20 at PlayUp – There’s some very strong mail going around for this horse, not only to win todays race but also to be a genuine winning chance in the Kozi this year. Mitch Beer prepares, and she comes off a very close 2nd here at the track over 1100m first up on heavy going. Second up here and fitter, she finds an extra 100m to her liking and again strikes a preferable heavy surface. The wide draw suits, as I predict horses will be staying well away from the fence, and she is one from one undefeated at this stage of her prep.
