Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst
Sale R2 #8 Gold Manuka $2.10 at PlayUp – Coming off two second placed efforts to start the prep, looks destined to break through here third up and ready to peak. Last start over 1100m at Werribee she tried hard behind a very talented winner in Bollywood Nights, who rates as though it will measure up in Saturday grade. Jason Warren and his horses are in a purple patch of form at the moment, and i’d be happy to follow him in here from a good draw with a nice map in runR7ning.
Sale R5 #7 A Penny Spent $10.00 at PlayUp – Going to speck this runner at odds in a very even event here, coming off two down the track finishes in much harder affairs than this. Last time she was well beaten by Jungle Jim, who smashed the entire field and went on to SP favourite in a Saturday group race. Prior, she dropped back to 1300m and was only beaten 4L on the Lakeside in a hot race behind Boss Queen, and I think the drop back in distance was the wrong call. Go back earlier this prep she was flying over 1400-1600m with very good sectionals. Back to 1400m here, a definite chance.
Sale R7 #6 Samedi $4.20 at PlayUp – Bounced back into winning form last start with a dominant victory at Werribee over the mile, putting the field away by over 2.5L on the line in what was an easy watch. he sat handy in running on a decent enough tempo, and showed good dash late through the line to extend the margin. From barrier two here this afternoon, i’m tipping he will be holding that winning form. Maps for another gun run in transit, and clearly the extra trip poses no worries based off the strength through the line winning last start.
Warwick Farm R4 #1 Hollywood Hero $2.60 at PlayUp – My patience with this horse is wearing thin, but is surely does find a very winnable race here this afternoon over the mile. Three runs so far have all been very gallant, albeit probably should’ve broken through already in its last two starts. You have to respect the SP profile of the horse, starting favourite both times and has only been beaten under half a length each time lately, going very close. Fourth up now ready to peak, steps to a mile, and bred to handle the heavy going which should see a few others out of this.
Warwick Farm R6 #6 Saucey Horsey $4.80 at PlayUp – Genuinely shocked this horse isn’t favourite, given the big rider booking of James McDonald and the fact the track is a heavy 8. Has been given a few weeks between runs, and makes the trip up from Melbourne, last seen running behind So You See in a hot race at Sandown, and that horse has subsequently run well in Saturday grade. The last time Saucey Horsey saw a wet track was three starts ago, when she won by near 3L at Bendigo. Her record on heavy going is 4:3-0-0, clearly indicating that she is at her best on bottomless ground. That record is superior to anything else in the field, she maps well off barrier three, has to be a definite bet.
