Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst
Randwick R3 #3 Sparring $5.50 at PlayUp – Back to his brilliant best this horse I think, off a dominant last start win at Moonee Valley. We had been waiting for him to put it all together after he recorded a sensational debut win at Albury, and then took it to proper horses at Sandown over 1000m. He got off the boil a touch, but ran meeting fastest sectionals to bounce back last start and win dominantly. 6 weeks between runs, but has been kept up to the mark with a trial since, he returns to NSW and strikes a very winnable class two highway event. Soft track no worries, I think he actually goes better with the sting out.
Randwick R5 #8 Lavish Empire $6.50 at PlayUp – Chucking this one in here with the hope that the rain continues and we are graced with a track bordering on the heavy range. This bloke was a hugely dominant Canterbury winner on debut on a heavy 8, putting them away by 7.5L on the line. You could argue he didn’t beat much, which may well be true, but times and figures don’t care who he beat and those times and figures are saying he smashed it out of the park. Clearly a wet track specialist, he can be fitter now for the debut win and improved with race experience. Can run very well.
Randwick R10 #11 Po Kare Kare $3.60 at PlayUp – Comes off a dominant first up victory, and looks set to go on with things here. Put them away nicely at Randwick over 1100m first up, coming from off speed on a slow tempo to run a meeting fastest last 200m split through the line, and all his closing sectionals rated extremely highly for the meeting. Is two from two undefeated second up, and seems to run best on soft going as well which is a major positive. Well wighted, maps nicely from barrier six, and gets a very in form and underrated jockey onboard in Alysha Collett.
Moonee Valley R4 #6 Shuffle Dancer $1.75 at PlayUp – This runner looks the ideal multi anchor, coming here fourth up and running incredibly well so far this prep. She won dominantly at Sandown two starts ago, before having little luck last start at Flemington behind a very handy winner. She got held up on the fence behind midfield while the leader walked them in front, meaning the shape of this race was just completely against her. Once she got clear inside the last furlong she flew home in meeting fastest sectionals and gapped the rest of the field. Peak fit now, drawn perfectly, and gets a leading rider engaged.
Moonee Valley R9 #13 Threeandfourpence $8.50 at PlayUp – Value runner here, but I think has been completely missed by the market especially seeing that J Kah has been booked to ride him. Was unlucky when finishing 7th at The Valley first up, sat last off a very slow tempo meaning it was always going to be impossible to win from that position, especially at that track and distance. Copped even more trouble when he straightened up and just got caught behind tiring horses the entire straight, and went over the line hard held with a lot to offer. Drawn closer in today, should hold a handier position and can be atoning.
