Huge day of G1 racing, get stuck into the good oil below courtesy of the PlayUp form analyst
Moonee Valley R2 #12 Fearless Writer $5.00 at PlayUp – Underrated filly who is really flying this prep, including a dominant last start win here at the track and trip in easier grade. She found an awkward position in running and had to overcome some difficulties, but once clear late she flew past them to win. Her last 600m, 400m, and 200m sectionals were all indicative of a horse with great potential. Stays at the 1200m here which she clearly likes, and gets in very well at the weights in a winnable benchmark race.
Moonee Valley R7 #8 Alenquer $20.00 at PlayUp – Ex European horse having its first Australian start, and what a race to do it in the All Star Mile. The horse has had a handful of jump outs leading into this run, most recently at Flemington where he made very good ground after the line. I like these resuming top class stayers, as they often run a very big race fresh over an unsuitable distance. First up to a mile looks ideal, and this horse has form in the Arc De Triumph and the G1 Sheema Classic in Dubai. Those two races are the pinnacle of global horse racing, and he strikes what looks to be a very winnable All Star Mile this year.
Moonee Valley R10 #12 Frost Yourself $15.00 at PlayUp – Having a throw at the stumps here in the last on a runner at a big price, coming off two wins from two starts so far this prep. She is clearly a mare racing in great form, and her last start win at Ararat was not only visually impressive but it was backed up on the clock as well. She ran the fastest last 200m’s of the entire program, and came away to win by 2L with seemingly more up the sleeve as well. Third up now and peak fit, out to the mile should really suit and she gets in with a very light weight here.
Rosehill R3 #10 Santoc $10.00 at PlayUp – This horse is flying this prep, currently undefeated through two starts and both of those wins have been ultra impressive. Flew home to win fresh on the Kensington track after chasing a hot speed, running sectionals inside the top five fastest of the entire day. Similar last start too, sat last and mowed them down over 1400m at Warwick Farm and yet again ran some of the best closing splits of the entire day. Third up and showing no signs of slowing down, she makes the move to 1900m’s at group level, but draws nicely for her racing style and gets in well at the weight.
Rosehill R8 #8 Kings Gambit $10.00 at PlayUp – Keen to back this Snowden horse in the Slipper, as he seems to have been written off and forgotten by most of the pundits. His debut win in Melbourne last year was visually and sectionally impressive, and since then he has just been caught un very unsuitable races here in Sydney. He is a horse who, at the top level, needs a genuine pace on in front so he can sit back and use his turn of foot late. Has been back to the trials since last start, and showcased that electric turn of foot we know he has. Will finally get a genuine tempo race here, as they often fly along in front, and maps perfectly in behind the speed for a leading rider.
