Last day of the Sydney Autumn Carnival, and another cracking line up of races has been assembled as well. Only two Group One’s left up for capture before we head to Brisbane, and the fields are as a strong as ever. A great accompaniment card from Caulfield too, so take a look at some winners below from the PlayUp form analyst.
Caulfield R1 #6 Plus Fours $3.40 at PlayUp – This horse was very good on debut at Cranbourne, beaten under a length there after settling in an awkward position. The leader didn’t go quick in front there, and with this horse back in the field it made it a very hard winning position. He snuck inside runs in the straight and finished off with the fastest last 400m and 200m sectionals of the entire day. That’s a very good performance for a horse having its first start, and is surely improved here with B Prebble staying aboard as well.
Caulfield R6 #4 Forever Free $6.50 at PlayUp – Think the bookies have missed this runner, as I expected to see it much shorter in the market. She was a very good first up winner at Mornington, and that continued her very strong fresh record. She ran the fastest last 200m of the day to win, and her last 600m was recorded over 5L quicker than class average as well. She clearly has returned to racing in outstanding order, and I expect she can continue that here.
Caulfield R9 #6 Glint Of Hope $3.30 at PlayUp – Very strong race to round out the program, and this looks a perfect race for Glint Of Hope to bounce back into the winners stall. She was a strong winner at Pakenham first up, justifying her $1.40 price tag to win by 2L. She then gave the very talented My Whisper a real scare at Sandown over the mile, running the second fastest last 200m of the program but just falling short. Third up here peaking, sticks to the mile which will suit, and only carries 55kg in comparison to main chances at the top of the weights.
Randwick R8 #2 Cascadian $14.00 at PlayUp – Thought this could just be the G1 race for Cascadian this prep, coming off very gallant efforts in the Australian Cup, All Star Mile and Doncaster Mile of late. A rapidly drying Randwick surface is very likely to be in his favour, and he will get a suck run from the inside barrier with James McDonald retaining the ride. He looks extremely well suited back to weight for age, and strikes an extremely winnable edition of the All Aged Stakes, which is notorious for being one of the weaker G1 races of the carnival.
Randwick R9 #20 Taksu $3.90 at PlayUp – Really hoping this runner gains a start here, and if he does he will likely start a firm favourite too. Racing extremely well in good benchmark races this prep, including a win at Rosehill two runs back on a heavy eight. Comes into this fourth up and very fit, ready to peak from a middle draw with only 50kg on his back after the claim. The extreme weight relief makes him a very exciting betting proposition in a winnable race like this. Just needs to gain a start, and will need a good ride from the barrier.
