Racing Tips: 14th May

A great day of Saturday racing is upon us, take a look at the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

Flemington R5 #12 Coolth $8.50 at PlayUp – Can be a bit of a punters enemy this horse, but I really like what I saw from him first up at Caulfield, and i’m keen to back him here. He got back to near last in running, as is typical for this horse, and had a mountain of work to do behind a hot speed in front. He unfortunately couldn’t get clear running at the top of the straight when he needed it, but did rattle home with a last 200m split that is 3L quicker than average. It was a strong return, and now second up to Flemington looks a very suitable task.

Flemington R6 #9 Arran Bay $3.50 at PlayUp – Another horse who was very strong first up, finishing second to Ceasar at Sandown over 1300m. It was a strong return to racing, recording the third best last 200m split of the entire day and his best work was inside the final few strides where he really launched. Second up now and should strip fitter, and the step to 1400m will be ideal. Maps perfectly from barrier seven for a midfield run, and will only carry a measly 52kg after the claim.

Flemington R7 #11 Splendiferous $3.90 at PlayUp – A ticket into the Melbourne Cup of 2022 is up for grabs to whoever can win this edition of the Listed Andrew Ramsden, and the Waterhouse/Bott prepared Splendiferous fits the profile for mine. Coming off two straight wins which include a last start demolition job in the Pt Adelaide Cup over 2500m, where she won by a comfortable 4.7L on the line. This is her first test at 2800m, but she seems like a horse who is relishing the rise in distance, and already has a 4th placing in a G1 Qld Oaks to her name at the top level. Drawn ideally in barrier two, and B Prebble taking the ride is a good push.

Scone R5 #11 Sacrimony $4.00 at PlayUp – Day Two of the Scone carnival, and Sacrimony looks a great bet in this BM72. He comes off a last start victory at Hawkesbury on a very similar wet track to what he will see here today, and i’m confident he can go back to back. Maps very well from barrier four to get a nice run near the speed, which should be an advantage by this stage, and clearly performs at his peak on heavy going.

Scone R6 #13 I Am Me $3.60 at PlayUp – This would be my favourite horse going around at the moment, and i’m super confident the horse can go four from four this prep to remain unbeaten this time in work. Her three wins to date have been electric, included a hands and heels job down the Flemington straight last start. She has form behind Fangirl last prep, who is now a G1 winner, and she clearly needed that time to develop into a serious race horse. I can easily see high group level wins on her horizon, and from a middle draw with only 53.5kg here, she looks the winner.
