Midweek racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown Hillside R4 #9 Pacific Ruby $2.45 at PlayUp – No surprise to see this horse come up favourite, after a dominant maiden victory on similar heavy conditions last start. She handled the bog track at Moe with aplomb, sitting behind the lead and winning by a space on the line. All her closing sectionals were far quicker than open handicap average, and that was a maiden race. Second up here, definite room for improvement again and should be going back to back with wins.
Sandown Hillside R5 #6 Lunares $18.00 at PlayUp – Keen to see this horse resume for a new stable, now in the astute hands of Reece Goodwin. She won two starts back on a heavy 8 at Bendigo by close to 2L, proving she is very adapt in wet conditions. Drawn well in barrier three here, and has been kept up to the fitness mark with a tick over trial at Cranbourne where she wasn’t asked to do much. This trainer has a very strong win/place strike rate, especially with horses who aren’t necessarily fancied in the market. Expect her to run very well.
Sandown Hillside R8 #3 Sig Positano $5.00 at PlayUp – Thought this runner was very solid last start in town, running third in a strong BM84 at Caulfield on a soft 6. He had to absorb strong pressure up on speed, and did well to absorb strong pressure on that occasion. He was far from disgraced two runs ago on a heavy deck here at the track, and is rock hard fit for this run. Expect him to roll forward, and look to control the tempo. Harry Coffey takes the ride, and is in outstanding form within the last fortnight.
Warwick Farm R4 #3 Beep Test $6.00 at PlayUp – Second up here the promising O’Shea filly, after going very close in a strong form race first up at Randwick Kensington, only beaten 1.7L on the line. She definitely didn’t come up last prep, and all runs there are a complete forgive. If you go back to her form around August/September last year, she was flying in very strong races including a dominant class one win at Kembla, and beaten a pimple behind proven city performers on the Kensington track again. Second up, drawn perfectly in barrier one, and gets a handy 2kg claim for Reece Jones.
Warwick Farm R7 #12 Marooniyah $2.50 at PlayUp – Keen to be with a proven wet track performer here for the Hawkes’ team and W Pike. She has had four runs this prep, for a victory two starts ago and three second placings as well. She dominated on a heavy 8 at Canterbury in a maiden, and then was seven weeks between runs into the last start second in a BM72 at Canterbury again. She will strip fitter here, and W Pike retains the ride with a low weight and a favourable middle draw.
