Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown R1 #4 Nunthorpe $1.95 at PlayUp – Very impressive debut winner who I think can replicate things here, finding a very winnable class one event over the suitable 1400m. She was heavily backed on debut at Cranbourne off the back of some sharp jump outs leading in, and duly saluted with a sharp turn of foot. She ran a meeting fastest last 200m sectional, and all her closing splits indicated above average ability. Up in distance now with race fitness and experience, and drawn well for J Kah who retains the ride.
Sandown R3 #8 Shakattak $3.90 at PlayUp – Comes here third up and ready to win, albeit as a beaten favourite last start at short odds at Cranbourne. Willing to forgive that run though, I am sure the winner King Valley is a very smart horse who will be popping jump in Saturday grade next start, and this horse held the rest of the field easily. The debut run at Wangaratta two starts ago was very encouraging, and finds a very winnable affair again here. Have to respect that last start SP profile, and he draws perfectly in barrier three for a good run throughout.
Sandown R8 #12 Keitel $2.80 at PlayUp – The debut winner is resuming here over 1100m, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the resumption of this seemingly very smart Price and Kent Jr galloper. He bolted in on debut at Pakenham over 1200m on the synthetic back in August, winning by 4L and running the third fastest last 200m of the entire meeting under literally no pressure. His overall time was very strong compared to even the benchmark races on the day, and he was immediately tipped out with bigger targets in mind. This first up run should set the tone for what could be a promising Autumn carnival, and drawn plum in barrier four with J Kah on.
Warwick Farm R1 #3 The Englishman $3.50 at PlayUp – First up here and ready to win, coming off two very solid trials leading into this 1400m assignment. They’ve both been over the 1000m+ distance at Randwick and Rosehill, and I love the way he found the line behind Bucks Party in the first of them. Only one career run, and it was a second placing behind Zou Tiger who ended up competing at the highest level last prep, so i’m trusting the form out of that run is very strong. Maps well enough here fresh, and strikes a very winnable midweek race.
Warwick Farm R6 #6 Command Approved $3.60 at PlayUp – Keen that this M Smith runner can make it back to back wins to start the prep, coming off a demolition job at Wyong first up. He was sent forward over the 1000m there and sat outside the lead, before putting the opposition away by over 3L and running very good time as well in the process. He is two from two undefeated over this trip now, and should be sent forward again from the draw to take up a positive position. He seems a horse who can easily work hard in front and keep finding at the back end, which is a very encouraging trait for a horse, and he should win again here.
