BIG Saturday of racing coming up here, with a cracking day out at Randwick for G2 Villiers Stakes Day, and some black type racing out of Flemington as well.

R3 #6 Florescent Star $7.00 at PlayUp
Was very good running fourth at The Valley behind Gaze Grise, and arguably should’ve finished closer as well. Got back in running behind a slow tempo and was held up for running on the turn and in the early stages of the straight. Still managed to run the fourth fastest last 200m split of the day in restricted room. Second up, a two time winner at 1000m, and has drawn the right part of the track for the Flemington straight.

Feature event of the afternoon, and i’m very keen on the Stokes runner Mileva here. Has a win and a minor placing from two runs so far this prep, including that strong Caulfield listed win when fresh. Form last start behind Minhaaj in a G3 reads very well, and she also beat Swats That and September Run who is a G1 winner as well. Third up now, ready to peak, and back down to the 1000m suits as she is a two time winner from three starts at this trip.

R9 #13 Kentucky Casanova $5.00 at PlayUp
Very keen to see this gelding now in to city company, coming off a very dominant Sandown win last start when resuming. He put a handy BM64 field away by close to 3L, running huge late figures including an overall time that was 5.5L inside standard time for the class and distance. Second up here, and comes to the Flemington straight but has drawn the right part of the track to be right around the money. Data says that he should be measuring right up to this grade.

Racing very well this prep is the Godolphin runner, coming off a very strong Flemington 4th when resuming, and a Canterbury win on a heavy 10 last start. Finds another wet track here which is very suitable, and third up back to 1100m should be no issue at all. Carrying only 55kg here is also a positive, and so is the booking of K McEvoy. The favourite Dragonstone is taking up a large portion of the market, and so therefore we are getting a great price for this runner.

A very promising debut at Caulfield last start for this $90k yearling purchase, running 2nd to the very talented Ebhaar in the Listed Merson Cooper. He was caught four wide without cover throughout, let down very strongly to hit the lead but just peaked in the last few strides and was nailed by the winner. Second up now fitter with race experience, comes to Sydney and gets the booking of H Bowman to boot. Drawn very kindly this time around, big chance to go one better.
