Racing Tips: 10th May

Midweek racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Sandown Hillside R3 #5 Ojosan $9.00 at PlayUp – Racing very well this prep, and now third up looks primed to win in a very achievable race. She was good first up running 3rd at Ballarat, getting held up behind a slow tempo and flashing through the line late with not much luck. She recorded the second best last 200m split of the entire day and arguably should’ve won. She bumped into a smart one last time out at Sale, but was only beaten 1L. Wide draw no concern as she has a good turn of foot to come from rearwards.

Sandown Hillside R4 #9 Burum $5.50 at PlayUp – Excited to see the return of this debutant winner for the Maher and Eustace camp, who was immediately tipped out after an impressive Mornington victory. She had to sit three wide without cover the entire way, and kicked clear for an easy victory eased down. Jump outs leading into this prep have been good, and the booking of Linda Meech is a positive as she is riding in very good form. I concede the wide draw is a concern, but that is perhaps the reason why we are getting a good price.

Sandown Hillside R6 #4 Entitled Princess $12.00 at PlayUp – Happy to play each way on this runner for the Barry Goodwin team, especially at a 1×3 basis with the good odds available. She has done nothing wrong in two starts this prep, running second on both occasions including last start at Kilmore over the mile. She is proven to handle both firm and wet ground, and she looks ideally mapped from barrier three compared to some main rivals. She ran the third fastest last 200m’s of the day at Kilmore, and her closing sectionals rated much higher than the grade. Keen she goes very close at odds!

Warwick Farm R2 #5 Democracy Manifest $2.30 at PlayUp – This Waller horse was super impressive winning first up here at the track over 1200m on similar heavy conditions, putting his rivals away by an ever-growing 1.75L margin on the line. It was a strong return to racing, and he has been scratched since to be saved at this very winnable midweek target. Barrier three should have him mapping perfectly in the run, and with James McDonald sticking to ride i’m confident he will be going two for two to start this prep.

Warwick Farm R3 #5 Za Ceibas $3.30 at PlayUp – Fourth up and ready to peak here, another one for the Waller/McDonald combination. This horse was unsuited getting back near last at Canterbury last time out over 1900m, but still did very well to make ground and run third. He was a very strong Hawkesbury winner first up three runs ago, and coming to Warwick Farm now he looks very suited. 2400m looks ideal for him now, and he is drawn well midfield and will strike wet conditions to his liking.
