An exciting day of racing awaits here, with the commencement of the Adelaide and Brisbane racing carnivals. There’s two G1 races to be run and won at Morphettville, while a few lower group events will be run and won at Eagle Farm. Tips down below from our PlayUp expert for Sandown and Hawkesbury.
Sandown Race 1 #7 Glamour And Glory $4.60 at PlayUp – Keen on the chances of the Hawkes’ galloper here, who now looks very well placed after the scratching of original favourite See You In Spring. On debut, Glamour And Glory jumped fast but was forced to sit three wide without cover on speed the entire trip. She stuck on very well through the line after being entitled to tire, and the run itself rated very highly. Second up now, drops 1.5kg into this run and has drawn much more favourably in barrier two. Expect it to land on speed and be very hard to beat.
Sandown Race 7 #11 Transplant $6.00 at PlayUp – Transplant comes here second up for the McEvoy team, off an impressive maiden win at Kilmore over 1200m when fresh. She jumped fast, led and controlled the race, and quickly put a space on her rivals under hands and heels. The official winning margin was 6L, and she managed to run the quickest last 400m split of the entire meeting in the process. A very smart filly I dare say, who can roll forward from the wide alley, and although faces a big rise in grade here looks an exciting prospect who can match it with these.
Hawkesbury Race 5 #2 Sweet Deal $3.80 at PlayUp – Surprised this Thompson runner has not come tip shorter in the market here, who drops back to this G3 event after competing in three G2’s and a G1 Coolmore so far this prep. Her run behind Fasika last start was full of merit, only beaten under a length there, as have all her runs this prep been strong without breaking through. This is arguably the weakest race she has faced all prep, and Nash Rawiller has chosen to ride this horse instead of the Godolphin favourite in which he also has experience on. Well drawn, rock hard fit, and looks a good bet at the current quote.
Hawkesbury Race 6 #11 Embracer $5.00 at PlayUp – It’s been almost a year off the scene for this Waterhouse/Bott gelding, who has either knocked off or finished close to a number of very good horses over the course of his career so far. He has been primed for this return with three strong trials, including the latest over 1050m at Randwick where he put almost 4L on the field. His fresh record is strong, finishing 3rd behind Roheryn when last fresh back in June of 2020. He loves racing at the 1100m, will go forward in typical GaiBott style, and looks a good hope here in a competitive Listed event.
Hawkesbury Race 8 #7 Royal Celebration $2.90 at PlayUp – Third up here in the feature of the afternoon, this ultra-consistent Quinton galloper looks primed to return to the winners stall. Two runs this prep have been outstanding, carrying a mammoth 62.5kg first up before running 3rd to Rocha Clock last week in a very high rating benchmark race. Last prep third up, he was beaten a head in the G3 Festival Stakes over 1500m. He gets to a mile this time around, has drawn perfectly in barrier four, and Clipperton has had success aboard previously. No qualms on the track either, he debut’d here over 1100m as a 2yo and ran a good second place.
