Flemington R1 #8 Secret Glamour $3.60 at PlayUp – Second up here off a very convincing debut win over 1200m, where she was forced to work hard to loop the field and eased down to win by 1L on the line. She ran the fastest last 400m sectional on the entire program and looked every bit a Saturday class horse. Drawn very well here, and maps to lob in the one-one position under J Allen. Proven on soft tracks after the debut win on a soft 7, and primed to kick start her career with two straight wins.
Flemington R5 #6 Think ’N’ Fly $7.50 at PlayUp – Second up here, coming off a very encouraging fresh effort at Caulfield over the 1400m behind Biometric. Forced to sit deep with cover throughout, he boxed on very well through the line. Out to a mile now is a huge positive, he was a dynamite record over this trip (9:4-3) and likewise is a proven second up a winner, with a record of 3:2-1 at this stage of the prep. Proven to handle soft tracks, and can settle much handier from the low draw here today. D Oliver holds the ride and gets a 4kg weight drop coming up in class, although this doesn’t look like an overly hard race.
Flemington R8 #7 Aramayo $12.00 at PlayUp – The price of this Waller runner is mind-blowing, and definitely worthy of an each-way bet. Third up into the prep here, coming off a terribly unlucky run behind the top weight Yulong January last start at this track and trip. He got back to last in a race where Yulong January was able to lead and win, so automatically the shape of the race was terribly against Aramayo. When he straightened up, he was held up behind runners until the final 150m, where he got clear and launched at the line. He recorded the fastest last 200m sectional of the entire meeting and goes close to winning with even luck. Fitter again now, and will get back again from the wide draw. The difference this time is that there is a lot more speed on paper, which will set up perfectly for him.
Rosehill R1 #5 Royalzel $5.50 at PlayUp – Very keen to attack the price of Royalzel in the opener, whose only win from three career starts so far was a 3L demolition job on a heavy track. It was at Wyong two starts back over 1300m where he sat on speed and put a field away very easily on the heavy track. Fourth up into the prep now at peak fitness, and finds another wet track to suit. The booking of J McDonald is a huge push, and from barrier 7 he is likely to find better going up the straight from a position that may be two or three wide with cover.
Rosehill R6 #8 Taksu $7.00 at PlayUp – This J Pride gelding is racing in outstanding form this prep so far, with three consecutive minor placings down in Victoria over 1200m/1400m. He went very close fresh at Terang and arguably would’ve won if he elected to stay on the fence, and then at Ballarat two back he cost himself the race by laying in late stages. Under a length off Biometric at Caulfield, the last start is very strong form, and the run itself rated extremely highly. Now back to Sydney, finds a wet track that is right up his alley, and is drawn wide to find better going late. H Bowman going aboard is the cherry on top.
