Race 5 #5 QUANTENUS $3.80 at PlayUp – 3YO Exceed and Excel filly out of a Lohnro mare makes her debut today after 2 nice lead up trials. They’ve had a high opinion of her since day 1 and although she needed time to develop, she comes here in a very winnable maiden in good condition and I expect she’ll handle the conditions and should be hard to beat. Topweight SHADOW COLOUR looms as the danger, but he’s now an 11-start maiden, so is a non-winner but should still run a gallant race in the money for those playing exotics.

Race 3 #8 POUVOIR DE SOIE $1.85 at PlayUp – In what looks a very weak maiden, the Lloyd Kennewell trained mare POUVOIR DE SOIE gets her chance to break through first-up tonight in her second preparation where I expect natural improvement. She cost herself on a few occasions last prep when laying in and on other occasions, just found just one better, while putting big gaps back to third on multiple occasions, including a last start 2nd to the smart unbeaten KURABAI who has subsequently won. She was ridden cold in a recent Caulfield jump out and meets a fairly winnable maiden field here so I expect with even luck, she’ll be very hard to beat.
