Midweek racing from Sandown, Randwick Kensington, Gawler, Ipswich and Geraldton for the first time in February. A number of great betting opportunities await, so take a look at our expert selections for racing today.
Sandown R3 #4 Maui Bet Now at PlayUp and #6 Parure Bet Now at PlayUp – Two bet play here in race three, starting with Maui who returned in excellent fashion last start at Pakenham. He settled last on a very slow tempo, and was forced to work very wide around the corner. He ran home in the fastest last 400 and 200m sectionals of the entire meeting, but couldn’t get past the winner who enjoyed a very soft run on speed. Second up now and stripping much fitter, sticks to the mile and J Kah going on is a big push. Parure the second bet, likewise got back last start at Sandown and was forced to take runs up the inside of runners while the winner had an uninterrupted passage down the outside. Parure ran the fastest last 200m split by a fair margin, and will love the mile now.
Sandown R4 #5 Supreme Idea Bet Now at PlayUp – Happy to gamble on this talented filly who resumes over arguably an unsuitably short trip, but is the clear class horse of the field. She is first up here, and last prep consisted of four runs in Listed and G3 company, finishing 3.4L off September Run, and 5L behind Swats That… both of which are extremely handy form lines. She actually hasn’t competed in anything less than a listed race since breaking her maiden 8 starts back in December of 2019. She comes here fresh against her own sex in a bm70 race midweek, and only has to carry 55.5kg after the claim. She looks exceptionally placed here, and her recent jump outs have been very impressive. Maps to sit in behind the speed, can win.
Sandown R6 #16 Future Force Bet Now at PlayUp – Second up here, coming off a gallant second when fresh behind River Twain at Geelong over 1100m. Sat up outside the winner on that occasion and although no match to the line, was very strong late and almost got there. Second up here, where she is one from one unbeaten, and keeps a low weight of 56kg down the bottom here. From barrier five she maps to land outside the lead again in a big field where they may look to control the tempo. Fitter and out to 1300m suits, she should make a good account of herself.
Randwick Kensington R5 #2 Guise $4.40 at PlayUp – Third up into her campaign here, and fitter for two runs in much harder company including last start over the mile in bm78 grade on a Saturday. Although last in that race, she was only beaten 4.5L after fading off speed. Back to a midweek bm72 will suit, and the rise to 1800m as this stage of the prep is preferable. Her heavy track form is strong, last prep finishing not far off Desert Path and Fulmina in similarly wet conditions, two form lines that would be very strong for a race of this company. Well drawn in barrier three, T Berry going on is a huge positive, and she can be running very well.
Randwick Kensington R7 #9 Flexible $2.70 at PlayUp – Very impressed with the way this 3yo filly went on to win her maiden last start at Warwick Farm on a heavy 9. After sitting off the speed, she went past the field in a few strides and pulled away through the line for a dominant victory. That was on a heavy 9 over 1200m, and she finds similar track conditions here today with an extra 200m in distance which will definitely suit. Down on the weights with the rise up to benchmark grade, but Rachel King stays aboard and gets a bigger field with more tempo which can suit her get back pattern.
