We hope punters followed our tips last night, with three of our four tips saluting and all at very nice odds indeed. Zipping Rambo was outstanding in winning the richest greyhound staying race in the world, the Sandown Cup, running down the tearaway leader Tyler Durden and then holding off the storming finish of the NSW star Stanley Road. Great training effort by Mark Delbridge and his wife Lisa, to condition the dog to win such a prestigious race at just his third run over the staying trip. Purchased less than twelve months ago from the Hallinan family, who bred and raced the dog during his early career, Zipping Rambo has now won over all three distances at Sandown at the highest level. One suspects, it will not be his last Group 1 success.
Other highlights last night at Sandown, on what was a fantastic night of racing, included the stunning win, in 29.17, of youngster Aston Fastnet in the final of a Restricted Win event, the same time being recorded by the flying Qwara Bale in winning the GR8 Eight Series for sprinters, and finally, the win of Hank The Hustler in the Cup Stayers Listed race, some consolation for connections, after his unlucky run in his heat of the Sandown Cup last Thursday.
Tonight, all eyes will be focused on Dubbo, where the final of the Brother Fox Dubbo Cup will be run, a race that appears very open on paper. Zipping Kyrgios, the fastest and most impressive heat winner, has drawn poorly in Box 8, and will need plenty of luck to win from that draw. The support program that the Dubbo club has put together, is of the highest level and will ensure a great night of racing.
Dubbo Race 2 No 2 All In Blue $41.00 at PlayUp – Started big odds last week, from box 8, when finishing second in a very fast time. She gave the impression an inside draw would be more suitable to her chances. She is again big odds, but we believe she can be in the finish and is well worth an each-way ticket.
Dubbo Race 5 No 1 Western Hero $2.05 at PlayUp – Huge drop-in class for this dog. Mixed it with the best here last week in a heat of the Dubbo Cup, and with an ounce of luck would have finished a lot closer to the winner. He has a good record from the red box, and despite never winning from six attempts at the track and distance, we think he will lead comfortably from the draw and win. Rated our best of the night and your anchor in your multi bets.
Geelong Race 8 No 5 Catch The Thief $1.45 at PlayUp – A class performer who was runner up the last start in the Group One Harrison Dawson final. Loves one bend tracks and with an empty box outside him, he should jump straight to the front and win with ease. Yes, he is short in the market, but so he should be. He has a Group win in him in the very near future so continue to follow this dog.
Dubbo Race 8 No 6 Jungle Deuce $4.00 at PlayUp – One of the most exciting young sprinters in the land, who is trained by Jack Smith at Forbes, so is almost considered a local at Dubbo. Had zero luck in his heat and his effort to finish as close as he did, was first class. The draw may seem an issue, his kennel mate drawn in box 5, does have speed and heads to the rails. Should position in the first couple and prove too strong.
Mandurah Race 1 No 3 Sunset Wildfire $2.15 at PlayUp – Sparingly raced but does show enormous promise. Looked very unlucky at her most recent start, when dragged down from behind when leading. Can lead and win this.
