What a sensational evening of greyhound racing awaits us tonight, right across the country, highlighted with the running of two Group One finals at Albion Park in Queensland, the Brisbane Cup for sprinters worth a whopping $250,000 to the winning connections, and the Queensland Cup for stayers, worth $100,000.
Both these races have multiple chances, but the star Victorian sprinter Shima Shine (7) does look to be ideally drawn in the Brisbane Cup and he is our top selection for that event. In the Queensland Cup, we think the local stayer Maggie Moo Moo can take full advantage of the rails draw to land the money.
Let us not forget the final of the McKenna Memorial to be run at Sandown Park, to be run over the 595-metre journey for the middle distance dog, this being a Group Two event worth $40,000 to the winner. Both these venues have very strong support races on their programs, whilst Dapto, Murray Bridge, Hobart and Mandurah all host strong programs also in the other states.
Let us find some winners for the punters, our form of late has been exceptional as we continue to find winners for the punters and with some value as well.
Sandown Park Race 1 No 3 El Dorado $2.70 at PlayUp – Debuted on Sunday in the heat for this event and scored a strong win in 29.68 after being very well supported in the market. That win was from box 8 and he gave the impression that an insider would be more favourable so the box tonight should suit. Continue to follow this fellow as he looks like a real dog of the future.
Sandown Park Race 3 No 1 Trending Rookie $2.80 at PlayUp – Lightly raced youngster who has run a couple of slashing races in his short career to date. His run last start at The Meadows when a fast-finishing second was very good and from the inside draw here, he should get a good cart into the race early and allow him to finish over the top of his opponents.
Albion Park Race 3 No 8 Extra Malt $2.50 at PlayUp – Let us down last week when she found moots of trouble in the run to the first corner from box 6. We are hoping that tonight from the outside box, she can gain a clear passage early, down the outside, and allow her to position right up on the pace. She is very strong. This race looks like a very winnable race for her.
Dapto Race 6 No 2 Zipping Virginia $2.70 at PlayUp – Member of the very strong John Finn kennel who looks a star stayer of the future despite only being very young. Outstanding in two wins at Richmond recently over the 618 metre trip, before finishing third there the last start after having little luck in the run. We expect her to lead all the way from this draw. She is our best of the night, and she stands out for all multi bets. Yes.
Hobart Race 9 No 2 Flexing $1.50 at PlayUp – Resuming after a five-week break and this race does not look over strong. A very reliable beginner who is rarely led. Races well this circuit and has a fast winning time on the journey. We are expecting her to lead all the way. Short in the early market but you do not go broke backing winners.
