Last week, Angle Park conducted their 2021 Match Race Series, with the overall winner of this event being the flying Victorian Aston Rupee, who set a new track record when winning and recording the time of 29.95. In winning this event, Aston Rupee secured in place in next week’s Adelaide Cup final, which incidentally is worth $100,000 to winning connections. The winner of all six Cup heats to be contested tonight, will join Aston Rupee in the final field, along with the fastest second placegetter from the six heats, leaving the second and third runners up to be the two reserves. Angle Park Cup Heat 2 Race 4 No 7 Weblec Jet $2.50 at PlayUp – Had his first look at the track here last week when he performed well in the Match Race series. Reliable beginner who has the speed to be near the lead and the strength to finish over the top of his opponents.
Angle Park Cup Heat 3 Race 5 No 1 Keep It Black $3.20 at PlayUp – Trialled between races last week and handled the track like a veteran to record a very smart time. Has a good record from inside draws and has recorded very swift times at both Victorian city tracks. Looks the winner.
Angle Park Cup Heat 4 Race 6 No 2 Fly For Trix $7.00 at PlayUp – We are placing our hopes on the local dog Fly For Trix in this heat, in favour of the more fancied Victorian visitors. Fly For Trix has loads of ability and a fantastic record on SA tracks. We think he can hold the lead from this draw and then prove very hard to hold out.
Angle Park Cup Heat 5 Race 7 No 1 Do It $1.70 at PlayUp – Star Victorian chaser who has been close to winning a group race on a number of occasions in the past, only to fall short by narrow margins. Loves an inside draw and he should qualify for the final with ease. Can run serious time when left alone on the lure. He is our best of the night and your banker for all your multi bets tonight.
Angle Park Cup Heat 6 Race 8 No 8 Jack’s Well $3.90 at PlayUp – Trained by the master SA conditioner in Cameron Butcher, who knows what it takes to win an Adelaide Cup having done so in the past with Worm Burner. This fellow will be greatly improved by his two runs back from a spell and he doesn’t mind a wide draw. Looks suited.
Albion Park Race 5 No 2 Kooringa Lucy $1.70 at PlayUp – A star of Queensland racing who performs over well over all distances but we do think this 600 metre trip is her best. Has the speed to lead this field and once on the lure she is near impossible to run down.
Dapto Race 7 No 7 Zipping Panama $3.90 at PlayUp – Member of an outstanding litter, and his win last start at The Gardens was simply stunning. No reason why he cannot repeat that effort and that would have him winning again. Yes.
