Greyhound Tips September 2nd

Despite restrictions remaining in place for the general community across the eastern states of Australia, it has been another huge week for greyhound racing which, thankfully, continues to operate in these tough times. Not only is the continuance of greyhound racing wonderful for all industry participants, it also provides an outlet for greyhound followers and punters locked down at home, at a time when there is very little else happening to provide people with any joy. Providing punters gamble responsibly, an evening sitting on the couch watching these great animals race can be lots of fun. Hopefully we can provide some winners to make the night even more enjoyable.

In the last week we have witnessed a number of stunning performances that are worthy of mention. At Angle Park last Thursday, the veteran Sir Truculent, showed his appreciation of the return to racing at headquarters, with a brilliant all the way win over the 595 metres trip in fast time. His three previous runs, all at Murray Bridge, had been disappointing and had even his most avid fans questioning was it the end of the road for the champ. Judging by his effort last week, it will not be long before he is making it win number 43. Meanwhile at Bulli, a new sprinting star has been unearthed, with the Tracey Hurst trained Good Odds Cash running within one length of Aston Dee Bee’s track record on Saturday night in running 25.86, and then backing up last night to win again, after a tough run when trapped three wide for the majority of the trip, in a fast 26.17. And finally, at Albion Park last Thursday night, the Tony Brett trained Indictment, produced his third consecutive stunning performance, winning by ten lengths and again breaking 12.50 for the final split. In the history of racing at Albion Park, a 12.50 run home has occurred less than ten times but this dog has managed to achieve the feat at each of his last three runs. We can only wait until he steps up the 600 metre trip, as he surely is capable of breaking the track record with a clear run. He certainly looks headed for stardom.

Highlight of racing tonight is the running of three heats of the Molly Campbell Silver Dollars at Albion Park, where again we will see Indictment in action, whilst down at Sandown Park the clash between the in-form sprinters, Aston Rupee and Koblenz, will be well worth watching as this race could decide the favourite for the 2021 Melbourne Cup.

Sandown Park Race 11 No 1 Weblec Ranger $2.60 at PlayUp – A member of a very good litter, this fellow will love the rails draw. Has shown good ability in the past, including wins at The Meadows and Healesville in good times. Despite the fact that he hasn’t raced for 7 weeks, we are sure he will be primed for this run, in a field that is far from strong.

Dapto Race 3 No 3 Hudson Road $3.50 at PlayUp – Got the job done for us last week, winning well and showing his appreciation of drawing closer to the rails. Again tonight, the box draw will suit and we think he can find the lead again. Very promising young dog in a leading kennel who has plenty of wins in him.

Albion Park Race 5 No 7 Stanton Warrior $2.70 at PlayUp – Another youngster who got the job done for us last week with his strong, come from behind, win. He has the potential to be a group performer and we like him drawn off the track, so box 7 should present no issues. Runs to the line very well and he should win again.

Albion Park Race 7 No 5 She’s Precocious $7.00 at PlayUp – She has been showing good potential over the shorter trips, always hitting the line hard late, so she will love the step up to the 710 metres. Has stayer written all over her and she could be anything if her mind is fully switched on. Very attractive odds, as we have rated her our best bet of the night, so make her your banker in all your multi bets tonight.

Angle Park Race 6 No 5 Agent Swan $5.00 at PlayUp – Relatively new to SA racing. Resumed from short break for a nice third at Gawler last week. Can be a bit hit or miss, but on the lure she is capable of running very fast times. We think she can lead here. Nice each way odds.
